We are struggling to determine the cause of this crash, especially as the device itself reboots. If you are comfortable installing a sideloaded APK, you can give this build a try: https://artifacts.plex.tv/android-experimental/8.21.0.26669-7c1b7060/PlexForAndroid-8.21.0.26669-7c1b7060-Arm64v8aGooglePlayStdExo.apk
Iâll take a look at this sixones, thanks for getting back to us. Not certain if an update was pushed but Plex has been able to play videos without crashing for last few days on my end.
Ill load this tonight or tomorrow and give it a test. Ive only experienced the crash/reboot after a failed start of show via shuffle/season play.
it wonât install for me, any suggestions would be appreciated.
i uninstalled the current appstore version first, and then tried to install and it seems like it will go but then it says it didnât install.
Might of been the wrong architecture for the device, heres an armv7 one; https://artifacts.plex.tv/android-experimental/8.21.0.26669-7c1b7060/PlexForAndroid-8.21.0.26669-7c1b7060-Armv7aGooglePlayStdExo.apk
You shouldnât need to uninstall the current version as this version will have a higher version number.
okay that one installed.
so far it is slightly better in that it hasnât crashed the whole chromecast yet, but it has itself crashed 3 or 4 times, and it loaded the next episode with the zoomed in thing and i didnât notice this before but the audio was a bit weird.
another time it just failed to load the next ep, and then after that i was just trying to test that, and fast forwarding to the end of the ep caused plex to crash each time i approached the end of an ep.
Can you reproduce, and provide logs, please? Android, Android TV, Fire TV, Portal Logs | Plex Support
sent via pm. it just did the zoom in thing, the neither the app nor the chromecast crashed. but when it only does the zoom thing its better? than the not starting the next episode at all or maybe not whoâs to say.
pmâd another hopefully this time with a crash
I pmâd dave and sixones the logs
I attached a log with a crash with the new version as well.
I also did some testing I got a new copy of the same show. I found it didnt occur with the new file. I attached a media info dump of the two files 1 working 1 not. Outside of bitrates and a few encoding settings something different I notice is the working file has a Movie Name tag. My hope is more info will help
Thanks for the information and the logs, I should of mentioned this build has some bugs and hasnât gone through our reviews yet. Itâs good to know the device doesnât crash and reboot, this shows the issue was most likely in a codec configuration that Google have fixed in the latest ExoPlayer update.
The zooming is odd, will take a look into the logs and see if I can spot anything.
Just wondering if there has been any progress on this?
Iâm getting the same issue as Mr_Gareth showed in his video⊠zoomed in and then crashes the Google TV.
Things have been better with less crashes but I am still receiving these issues.
A.) If I attempt to play some episodes it will fail and plex will reload thru AdroidTV
B.) Sometimes attempts will cause chromecast to fail and reboot
C.) If I am prompted by plex to start the ânextâ video, the video will be zoomed or can cause the client to crash into scenario A or B outlined above.
Using only Chromecast w/o Android TV no issues.
Roku no issues.
Hey All,
Just wanted to add that I have been experiencing exactly the same issue as OP.
I can grab logs and send to whomever needs them. In my case, there are specific TV shows that have this issue after every single episode according to my Wife, so, easy to replicate.
Just giving this a bump. Do the plex devâs need anymore logs?
No, there are several threads about this. Plex is blaming âExoplayerâ and waiting for Google to patch it. No updates from either party that I am aware of in several weeks though.
FYI for anyone still following this thread. There is a fix
I sideloaded it and it does work
Apparently it should be in next weeks beta if you just want to wait
Itâs in the current beta, you can use a mobile device to signup and join the beta release, once joined it should take a few hours to update.
