Guide periodically shows "unexpected error has occurred" error message when selecting Movie sort

Server Version#: 1.14.1.5488
Player Version#: web client (Chrome, Edge, etc… doesn’t seem to make a difference)

I’ve been using LiveTV & DVR with HDHomeRun devices (for over a year without any errors as above), now when selecting Guide -> Movies, the list of movies displays for a few seconds but then the above “unexpected error” message shows up directing me to the community groups for help. sometimes, it doesn’t appear until I try to sort movies further, such as by Channel or Year (but then not all of the time).

I’ve already tried the steps to repair a corrupt library database, but this hasn’t helped. For now, reloading the Guide data from scratch (via DVR settings) resolves it for a while, but reloading the guide takes about 30mins with 49 channels to scan over the week ahead data.

Ideas and/or help much appreciated!

I’ve got the same issue.

Server Version: 1.14.1.5488
Web Client: 3.81.1

This is happening to me with both “Discover” and “Movies”. Sports, Shows, and News all work as expected. This is an established setup, 2 years+ running.

Same thing here, started a few days ago. Version 1.14.1.5488 on Debian, Web Version 3.77.4 on Chrome 71.0.3578.98.

I am experiencing the same issue as well.

Server Version: 1.14.1.5488
Web Client: 3.81.1
Server OS: Windows 10

This is happening to me with “Movies”. Discover, Sports, Shows, and News all work as expected.

I have the same problem, but I fix it by going to shows (or any other functioning filter) and scrolling up or down a bit, then return to movies.

Same exact issue here with movies. Tried steps to repair corrupt database, refreshed the guide, removed and re-added DVR.

Mac OS X Plex Server Version Version 1.14.1.5488
Player web client.

Any ideas would be super helpful! Thanks!

I too am seeing this same issue.

Subscribing to the thread since I have this issue too

Server Version: 1.14.1.5488
Web Client: Version 3.77.4 (using Firefox)
Server OS: Ubuntu 18.04

I am getting the same error on a regular basis. I have a HD Homerun Quatro and T1 that totals 5 tuners setup between two servers. One using premium HD Homerun service and the other server up Local tv. Running on a Qnap TS451+

Same issue although I just realized that I can filter on ‘Live TV & DVR’ and see the upcoming movies as well (scroll down to the end).

After seeing the movies show up in that section, I was able to go back to filtering on only ‘Movies’.

I also have the same issue - using latest Plex Server update and HD HomeRun Duo on NVidia Shield TV (2017). However, I’ve noticed that this problem only happens when my laptop is connected to the same (home) network as all of my devices / Plex. Logging into Plex via Chrome Browser at work (in my luchtime!), I don’t get this issue?

Upgraded to Version 1.15.3.876 and it seems to have made it worse… now when I select “Movies” only in the drop-down for Live TV & DVR, I get the error message 100% of the time.

The error message doesn’t come up if I select Shows, News, Sports etc… only Movies??

Same here. Using Plex on a Synology NAS…

Any suggestions?

Thx

I’ve been having this issue for a while now, and what’s worked for me on occasion is closing the all browsers (Chrome for me) and when I reopen the browser the movies list shows up. Doesn’t work Everytime, but hopefully this helps others who are frustrated with this

Same issue as Ashar77, June 20th. Latest Plex server update. Occurs both on firefox on separate windows machine, and with chrome on the Ubuntu 16.04 plex server.

Same here with latest PMS and after guide refresh. Windows 10 (1903)

I have had this same issue, I would say for 9 or 10 months, through many server and webclient versions. Server OS is Ubuntu 18.04.

The typical scenario is browsing “Movies” in “Live TV & DVR”, then scrolling down the page to a certain point would cause the error. My assumption is that there is a string in one of the movie titles that the web client is taking an exception to. I can go a few weeks with no problem, then for 3 or so weeks it will be a constant annoyance.

What I have noticed is that connecting directly to the server https://server_ip:32400 usually works more reliably than https://app.plex.tv

It’s also interesting that I have not (so far) had this problem since using the new non-Gracenote EPG data.
