An unexpected error has occured

Server Version#:1.15.0.659 on QNAP (Intel/AMD 64 bits)

Hello,

I still have “An unexpected error has occured” when going to “Live TV & DVR” > Channels > Films" (since the previous version). Every other menu works correctly.
When I installed this version, it worked for a few days and the stopped working.
This is quite annoying, as I cannot check the channels programs to schedule recordings…

What can I do, is there any solution to this issue ?

Edit : the strange thing is that it worked this morning, I browsed the Films to schedule some recordings, and I got the error after a few minutes, while browsing the Films category !

Thanks,
Apsalar.

Try updating to the latest Plex Pass release 1.15.1.707.

There were SEVERAL DVR related fixes in it.

Hello,

Thanks for your answer  But unfortunately, I still get the same error with this new version.
At first it worked, and while I was browsing the “Movies” category (after 2 or 3 minutes), I got the “unexpected error”. I do not get this error in the other categories though, that’s weird…
I think it worked flowlessly until version 1.13.8.5395 or 1.13.9.5456, I’ll try to reinstall them and check.
I’ll let you know.

Thanks!
Aps.

Hello there,

I downgraded multiple versions, and found one that works for me : 1.13.8.5395.
I tried version 1.14.0.5468 but it did not work, I got the error.
I even removed my DVR and re-created it, but I still got the error (with the latest versions of course).

I hope this can help pinpoint the issue, because if I can’t upgrade to the latest versions of Plex, I’m gonna be very sad…

Thanks,
Aps.

Due to the amount of changes in the build processes, etc., we would need debug logs from the 1.15.x builds that are having the dvr issues to track down the issues.

Hello,

Sure, I upgraded again to version 1.15.1.707, I ticked “Enable Plex Media Server debug logging” and “Enable Plex Media Server verbose logging” and tried again.
At first it worked, I browsed a long time the movies, no error. I closed my browser, came back 30 minutes later, opened my browser again, and there was the error again. I even have it now on the “Live TV and DVR” tab !
I closed my browser, opened it again, and I saw again the movies, but when changing from the Movies tab to another one and coming back, I got the error again.
I could almost think that it comes from the browser (Firefox).

One last thing, not sure if it’s relevant, but I have another Plex Media Server running on a Synology box (version 1.13.2.5154 as I cannot upgrade it anymore), but I don’t think the error could come from this…

I attach the logs here : (removed)

Thanks again,
Aps.

Please only do debug. Verbose generates too much data that normally we don’t need. I will look at them later this morning.

Hi,

Ok, here is with DEBUG only : Plex Media Server.log (428.9 KB)

I closed the browser (while being in the Movies section in error), opened it again, I did not have the error, got back a few pages on my browser, then clicked again to the “Live TV and DVR > Movies” section, and I had the error again.

I hope this helps (even though I do not see much to go by in the logs)…

Thanks again for all your help,
Aps.

Ok… I am having a little bit of a hard time following exactly what you are doing.

  1. What client are you using (web browser, Roku, shieldtv, etc.)??
  2. What is your DVR Source (HDHomerun, etc.)?
  3. What are the exact steps you are doing (click here, click there, etc.)

Also with Debug logs enable ONLY, please stop and restart Plex on the QNAP, let it settle from the restart, then reproduce the issue. Then click go into the Plex console and click Server > Settings > Troubleshooting > Download logs and upload the zip file please.

Hello,

Yes, sorry, I’ll do it like you say.

What client are you using : web browser
What is your DVR Source : HDHomerun Quattro
What are the exact steps you are doing :

  • restart Plex Media Server on QNAP
  • I click on Live TV & DVR > Live TV & DVD and then I click on Movies : OK
  • I hit back a few pages in Firefox
  • I click on Live TV & DVR > Movies : Unexpected error

When I try to download the logs, I never get the “Save As” window, so I copied the logs one by one from the server : Plex DLNA Server.log (16.6 KB)
Plex Media Server.log (666.1 KB)
Plex Tuner Service.log (2.3 KB)

Edit: indeed I messed up with the logs, they were copied : Plex Media Server Logs_2019-02-25_09-27-48.zip (3.8 MB)

I’ll do it again, to be sure I did not mess up…

Apsalar.

Ok, so I tried it with IE in Windows 10.

  • Stop Plex Media Server on QNAP
  • Start PMS
  • Launch IE
  • click “Live TV & DVR > Movies” : Unexpected error.

I could donwload the logs with IE : Plex Media Server Logs_2019-02-25_09-49-18.zip (3.4 MB)

Thanks,
Apsalar.

PS : I have a Shield on my network, but I don’t use it.

PS 2 : when I have the “unexpected error”, I close my browser and start it on the same page where I had the error, and it works. But if I “go back a few pages” on the browser, then click “Live TV & DVR > Channels > Movies” again, I have the error.

Ok… I am seeing a few things.

I see a few NW/Connection related items for various IPs,

What is your subnet mask setting and how do you have your QNAP configured for IP setup?

Seeing some issues related to the EPG data. It appears that the EPG provider isn’t finding a match for some of the information.

What version of HDHomeRun firmware is your Extend on?

Hello,

My QNAP’s IP address is 192.168.0.18, netmask is 255.255.255.0.
192.168.0.30 is my Shield.
I don’t have anything on 192.168.49.1 or 192.168.10.48.

My HDHomeRun Quattro (HDHR5-4DT) is with the latest firmware 20180817.

Regards,
Apsalar

Did you make 13 qvs0 (192.168.0.18) (loopback: 0) the default interface in settings/network?

And if not, please do, and restart PMS from AppCenter afterwards

Hello,

Yes, it is the only interface configured on my qnap, so it’s the default.

Thanks and regards,
Apsalar.

How many NW cables do you have connected on the back of your QNAP?

Not so

From your log:

Network interfaces:
* 1 lo (127.0.0.1) (loopback: 1)
 * 11 docker0 (10.0.5.1) (loopback: 0)
 * 12 lxcbr0 (10.0.3.1) (loopback: 0)
* 13 qvs0 (192.168.0.18) (loopback: 0)

Hello,

I have 1 cable plugged to the qnap.
These are the virtual adapters used by qnap.
But I only “go out” from my qnap with the virtual adapter 192.168.0.18.

PS : I just removed the two unused virtual switches from my qnap, I’ll see how that goes. Thanks !

Strongly recommend a reboot of your QNAP after that

Those vSwitches are used by container station. Agree on reboot after removing them.
