Hi Plex team! I love using Plexamp and often listen to my music while driving or multitasking. I’d love a way to rate songs (1–5 stars) without needing to manually interact with the app.
Here are a few ideas that would really help:
Siri Shortcuts support: Add support for rating the currently playing song via voice (e.g., “Hey Siri, rate this 4 stars”).
Shortcut or API support: Expose a URL scheme or intent for rating songs, so advanced users can automate it with Shortcuts or scripts.
These additions would make it much easier for users to curate their libraries while on the go. Thanks for considering it — Plexamp is already amazing, and this would make it even better!
The frustrating thing is that we actually do expose a shortcut for “love this track” and “hate this track” but on recent iOS versions, for some reason it’s very hard to get them to show up in the shortcuts app.
That makes sense, and it’s good to know the shortcuts for “love this track” and “hate this track” are technically exposed. I’ve definitely run into that same issue where they either don’t appear in the Shortcuts app or show up inconsistently depending on the iOS version or device.
If there’s any way to improve visibility or reliability there in a future update, it would be amazing. Even just having those two actions reliably accessible would go a long way for hands-free rating workflows — especially while driving or using Siri/Apple Watch.
And if star-based ratings ever become exposed through Shortcuts or an API down the line, I’d be first in line to use it

We spent a bit of time trying to figure out why shortcuts weren’t being exposed a few versions ago and sadly didn’t make any headway. It’s really quite frustrating, because all the code looks right, not to mention they used to show up just fine.
In theory also, every time you play an artist radio, it contributes a shortcut suggestion.
