Hardware Transcoding broken when burning subtitles ApolloLake-based Synology NASes

Sure hope they get this issue fixed in the next couple weeks as 1.16 will no longer handle artwork from tmdb after 31 Jan.

Just a little heads up: It’s been 3 months since this issue was reported first time today.
How can this not be fixed yet? We are all paying customers - Come on…

Or at the very least, just update the package to implement the workaround automatically (e.g. use the old driver) for apollo lake systems? I can’t believe it can be so hard to have to code just detect the apollo lake CPU and if so fall back on the old driver.

Have the exact same thing happening with my Synology Diskstation 718+ server. Everything was great until I got the Plex Pass and it updated the software. Thankfully, disabling hardware acceleration fixes it.

this is beyond a joke now. i got a lifetime plex pass for this specific feature and its been 3 months and its still not fixed. there are so many options available that its ridiculous its taking so long.

  1. remove the driver in new builds
    or
  2. have the system detect the cpu and disable the faulty driver
    or
  3. have a toggle in the settings to allow us select to use the old driver

waiting for intel to release a working driver isnt a solution, it could take them months like we are seeing.

@chrisallen any updates on this issue?

But only for a few days.

Starting January 31st, Plex Media Server version 1.18.2 or higher will be required to continue fetching TV show posters and episode thumbnails from TheTVDB.

I can report that this isn’t addressed.
Exact same problem with 1.18.5.2260

This is a joke…

If you don’t recognize the problem, it can’t affect you, right?

And after you did that, a Plex employee would direct you to this thread and say it’s a known issue.

Maybe I’m misunderstanding your post, but what point is there to go to all that trouble for an issue that’s well-known, well-documented, and never reported to have been fixed?

Okay never mind. I’ll delete my post and people can talk about their feelings.

Knock yourself out.

If you’re trying to make a point, I’m sorry, I’m not getting it. If this is a very roundabout way of saying I should STFU and just wait patiently for maybe another 3 months for a fix, then sorry, no, I’m not going to. It’s not unreasonable to expect some regular feedback on what the heck is going on on an issue that actually affects only paying customers, and a lot of them.

For the love of God. Asking people to make their own thread against the beta with a sample file, logs, and steps to reproduce is not telling you to STFU.

OK, if you’re saying you really meant that I actually should do that, can you please explain why?

Do you know something I don’t know? Does the new beta contain a fix for this problem, even though the release notes don’t say that, and nobody’s said that in this thread?

There’s absolutely no reason to believe that the code related to this problem has changed at all since the last release. You’re asking me to make the signal to noise ratio worse on this by starting a new thread that probably contains redundant results and will make it harder for people to find the best source to track this issue. I really don’t understand how this adds value, and it wastes my time, too. If someone would like to publish some code and suggest it has a fix for me to test, then absolutely I’d be glad to, as has happened in the past.

Anyone know the approximate date that the issue was resolved? I bought a Plex Pass and I just found out that what I bought (watching movies after synchronizing with the phone) does not work. Scandal. If it doesn’t work and it stays this way, where can I apply for a refund and remove Plex Pass?

Prefacing that I’m not entirely sure what other problems the people here have, but have you tried as mentioned to use Version 1.18.4.2155 ?
it might not be the latest one, but it’s much more recent than 1.16, and it does work well and all latest functionalities are in there (afaik).
So while waiting for a fix in the new versions, maybe (if you haven’t done already), should just keep/try using the Version 1.18.4.2155 as i am (with DS 1019+), no issues that i can see for me with this.
Comment n.223 has a link to it so it can still be downloaded.

I’m the same. After using Version 1.18.4.2155 with my DS918+ I’m not having the issues anymore.
