After updating Plex Media Server to version 1.13.0.5023 on a Synology DS716+II running DSM 6.1.6, hardware transcoding no longer works. Videos will open, but don’t begin to play, the status is stuck on buffering.
Direct play/stream, and software transcoding work fine on the same videos, but my CPU isn’t powerful enough to do more than one software transcoded stream without causing buffering. Hardware transcoding was working fine in Plex Media Server Beta 1.13.0.5003. I have tried reinstalling Plex, but no change.

@“mspaint.exe” The image you attached shows that hardware transcoding is happening… What makes you think the buffering is due to no hardware transcoding vs. some other issue? I’m sure the Plex team can help out, but I’m guessing they’ll ask for a log file… =)
Fwiw hardware transcoding is working on my DS718+ with this build. Hope you can figure it out…
Software transcoding (Web) and direct play (PMP) work on the same file (As well as any other HEVC files I have). As soon as I untick the hardware transcoding option, the video buffers for 15 seconds or so, then plays, though using software transcoding (No (hw) and CPU hits 99%).
With hardware transcoding enabled, it will say it is transcoding, but the video doesn’t play for even 1 second and there is no buffering progress visible on the scrubbing bar. Before this update, hardware transcoding would have the video playing instantly.

Issue still occurs in beta 1.13.1.5063.
Edit: Reverted back to 1.12.2.4929, a version that I had working hardware transcoding on before. The issue continues to occur. The update must not be an issue, something else must have caused hardware transcoding to break.
Issue appears to be resolved after DSM update.
