Hardware transcoding not working with 4k UHD files

Server Version#: 1.28.2.6106
Player Version#: Unknown

Hardware transcoding does not work with 4k H265 UHD files. It seems to function normally with 1080p/H264 sources.

Getting these errors in the log

[AVHWDeviceContext @ 0x7f0e2e802000] No matching devices found.

Reinstalled plex and it seems to think that things are OK

But it’s still not working

Disabling tone mapping fixes it but that’s not a great solution.

It’s a known issue. Downgrading to 1.28.0 is the current workaround.

What’s a good version in 1.28.0 to use. Could you help with a download link?

Assuming you’re running linux (ubuntu/debian etc.) try https://downloads.plex.tv/plex-media-server-new/1.28.0.5999-97678ded3/debian/plexmediaserver_1.28.0.5999-97678ded3_amd64.deb

Thanks!

There’s also a development build of 1.28.3 that fixes the issue

https://artifacts.plex.tv/plex-media-server-experimental/1.28.3.6101-cd5349651/debian/plexmediaserver_1.28.3.6101-cd5349651_amd64.deb

Even tried upgrading to the latest plexpass 1.29, and it’s broken. Jeezus.
Thank you, saved my ass when a user complained.

Downloaded .0 from your url, and placed a apt hold on plexmediaserver, going to lock down on this version and forget about it for the forseeable future

Christ, it STILL isn’t working. wtf have they done.

Chuck told me that 1.29 needs the most up-to-date version of ICR to work with hardware transcoding, but it did not work for me. I posted logs and still have not heard anything back.

@KyleD324 and all

I’ve not gone deep into 1.29.0 because, as I started, I was asked to test 1.29.1.

In a nutshell, without saying more than I should … PMS 1.29.1

I have been testing it now for the past few days.
