Has the ports changed?

Hi
I had Plex for years on the same network with ports open for it on the same router. Nothing was updated in terms of router or network. And being on QNAP Plex was working fine until recently. I rolled the updates frequently until the server stopped working

  • I cannot claim it
  • it asks for an update, although it is the latest version
    what should I do?
I did try to reinstall it completely and install it again. Has the ports needed for Plex changed recently?

@romisc

Nothing has changed.

What probably has happened for you is ,

  1. When you uninstalled the application – You deleted all the old server ID information.

  2. Plex.tv was not notified

  3. Plex.tv is still looking for that ID number when you open the browser and attempt to claim it.

  4. Looking at your account, I see a QNAP server at 192.168.1.200

  5. If this is your server, the next step for you , before you claim it again, SETTINGS - AUTHORIZED DEVICES (upper left corner) - SERVER (dropdown) and REMOVE the old QNAP server. Refresh the browser page (Control + F5) and you will be able to claim it

Thank you for your answer

I did not succeed

I deleted the server from the authorised list and was able to claim it. It was still asking for an update afterwards so I downloaded the latest stable version and rolled it out, despite it was the latest version. And the server went back to being unclaimed and I don’t see it in a list of authorised devices.

Any suggestions please?

Did you install on top of the existing version
-or-
did you uninstall then ugprade ?

I ask because, once claimed, does not lose the claiming on upgrade

latest version was installed on top of the latest version since it was demanding

Plex/web will recommend but never demand.

QNAP allows us to upgrade or downgrade without uninstalling.
It’s really nice that way. Only a few NAS platforms prohibit downgrading.

I looked at your account (as I write this).

There are no servers claimed to your account.

Now to ask the silly questions:

  1. Are you (your computer) and the NAS on the same RFC-1918 compliant subnet ?
  2. Are you opening the QNAP using http://LAN.IP.of.QNAP:32400/web ?
    ( You can’t use app.plex.tv to claim it )
  3. I will assume (?) your QNAP can still communicate with the internet OK?

Thank you for willingness to help

I think QNAP is the issue
