hauppauge 2255 & 1595 fails scanning for channels

I have Windows server 2012 on AMD with Plex Version 1.7.5.4035.
I have both the PCI 2255 and the USB 1595 tuners.
While only have one of the devices installed… DVR setup recognizes the WinTV-xxx device.
I select SCAN CHANNELS and select ATSC (USA) and then SCAN CHANNELS again. The “DIAL” progresses quickly to 70% and the stops/fails.
A remote session fails back to the “Awaiting channel scan” message, whereas on the server itself I get the message " No channels found. Make sure your device has a signal from your antenna and try scanning again."
I know both devices work. The USB 1595 is new and I tested it with WinTV on another PC.

Is this an issue with Server 2012?

Here is what I found in the “Plex Tuner Service.log” file that seems relevant:

Thanks to everyone in advance!

This is a plain vanilla install of server 2012… Might it be an issue PNP >>> rights?

FYI I attempted the same procedure on my Ubuntu server with the latest update of Plex server & WinTV USB 1595 and received the same result.

Is this an issue with firmware?

Anyone? ;crickets;

What does this mean?

Jul 07, 2017 20:00:07.990 [3672] DEBUG - * file_tuner::get_stream_file. File C:\Program Files (x86)\Plex\Plex Media Server\Resources\Tuner\Private\devices\dvb\file\drv_file.ini does not exist

Does anyone know why this happens?
file_tuner::get_stream_file. File C:\Program Files (x86)\Plex\Plex Media Server\Resources\Tuner\Private\devices\dvb\file\drv_file.ini does not exist

Ensure WIN10 isn’t using the device itself. Checkout this thread: https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/274173/xb1-tuner-wintv-hvr-955q-cant-find-channels#latest .

Checkout @indyhill post on June 7 (PAGE 2) :slight_smile:

Also can anyone share what is the contents of the “drv_file.ini” show above?

Interesting… I do not see Hauppauge listed as any sound devices…???

EXAMPLE from referenced post:

Maybe this is a 64bit issue with the Hauppauge driver.

I’m using Driver89_7_9_1_34216.exe
Should I be using the windows 10 driver instead? driver89_7_9_1_34216.exe
NOTE (I’m tired and just noticed they are the same file, but are listed separately on the Hauppauge site) :s

By creating the file structure and an empty file, I get this message:
DEBUG - * file_tuner::get_stream_file. File C:\Program Files (x86)\Plex\Plex Media Server\Resources\Tuner\Private\devices\dvb\file\drv_file.ini is empty?

Did you pull the drivers directly from Hauppauge’s website?

Yes the standard Windows driver.

I emailed their support for clarification or an answer I don’t want to hear. :#

Can you see the devices within Device Manager?

Just the capture device

What’s odd is Device Manager shows it with no driver issues but the sound settings within Windows doesn’t show it as an option. :frowning: For giggles, I would try different Windows drivers from Hauppauge’s site.
