I have a standard TV library with regular HD content and a 4K TV Library and for example the show the expanse in both libraries. When the new season came in both the 720p and 4k show up on my Continue watching section.
If I remove one (doesn’t matter which version) both are removed. If I mark the 720p one as watched it marks my 4K one as watched too
Very annoying. Anyone know of a fix?
I’m using the latest beta via docker on unraid.
It happening on my Apple TV and Samsung TV app so I don’t believe it’s client related.
That’s how it works, they’re both the same movie so we track them the same.
There is an open feature request to support alternate editions of movies, while this is not exactly what it’s purpose is, it would serve as a work-around if that gets implemented.
The difference is it’s a TV show not a movie and it’s a seperate library. I don’t see how marking some watched in one library should affect an item (same or not) in another library.
Doesn’t matter if it’s a series or a movie, if they’re the same item they should be tracked the same. If you have the same item duplicated in multiple libraries and watch one of the copies, you’ve still watched that content.
The feature request I linked would be applicable for TV shows too.
I am not sure but, maybe, if you use a different agent for each library you might disconnect the watched status. I have run into the same thing but, at least so far, it has not bothered me enough to try to find an answer.
Location doesn’t matter. The unique GUIDs given to items is what we use to track this, so if both libraries use the same agent then they’ll track together.
Yeah I find it a real pain in the butt when you go to continue washing and you see both the 4K and the regular HD one in the list and when you mark one or remove one from watch to remove both even though they are in completely different locations on my server and in separate libraries
