HD artwork

I just updated to 0.1.36, and all the artwork is still being displayed in SD. Any idea why?

Probably because your cache has not been cleared

log with ssh and type rm -rf /storage/.plexht/userdata/Thumbnails/* /storage/.plexht/userdata/Database/Texture*

That will clear all your cache, and it will get rebuilt.

Let me know if it fixes the issue or not, that would deserve a special note with the release if it is the case :)

This is happening for me too, however I flashed a fresh image of 0.1.36 so no previous cached images per se. I run the rm command you suggested and rebooted   RasPlex but still get the artwork in SD.

This is wierd ... i'll have to check with dale, didnt try the whole image myself, i pushed the changes, but dale tried it and it was working obviously :)

if other users are having the same issue, please report it here.

Yeah, I can confirm clearing the cache doesn't resolve this on 0.1.36.

Can someone a screenshot / phone picture of this?

The commit necessary to put artwork to HD was included, and it appears to be HD for me...

Here you go. It was taken quite quickly with an iPhone, so not the best of quality. Not sure you will be able to see the graininess of the artwork (you may need to click the picture link to open up the original) but the artwork for movies is not appear to be displaying in a high res. You can also see the corrupted icons for the media codec/metadata (bottom right).

Looks like there has been an issue during caching ... can you try to clear the cache maybe and have it recache to see if its persistent ?

you can use  rm -rf /storage/.plexht/userdata/Thumbnails/* /storage/.plexht/userdata/Database/Texture*  from SSH

That is an interesting issue.. just took another SDHC and flashed 0.1.36 on it.

Worked at first boot, i have HD & no artefacts ... strange

I have already tried that but it still persists.

I'll flash the SDHC again and see if that clears it, however others have reported the same issues so its not isolated to my setup only.

Yes there is obviously an issue ... just trying to figure out what could be the cause :)

if you reflash .. just try to leave if cache without doing anything for a few minutes when on home screen see if it gives better results.

This has to be a cache related issue .. now we need to find out why its going wild

Ok tried deleteing the cache once again and let it rebuild in good time. Same problem . I haven't re-flashed yet, I'll do that next. Before I do that though, upon examining the contents of  /storage/.plexht/userdata/Thumbnails/ I note that its mainly a bunch of JPGs which are the background artwork for movies, tv shows etc. From looking at the artwork in  /storage/.plexht/userdata/Thumbnails/  it looks pretty decent if I display it on my iMac.  I can't see any poster art per se (i.e. front covers for movies) and its the poster art thats mainly low-res. Is the poster art contained in the .db file (/storage/.plexht/userdata/Database/Texture*) ?

Q: When you flashed your SDHC, did you use one of the GUI Installers? In all previous versions of RasPlex I have used the manual command line method (./getrasplex.py -b ) to flash the image however for 0.1.36 I used the Mac OSX Installer. Wonder if that might be the cause?

I am running on Win32 and use win32 disk imager (old habbit).

But i wouldnt expect this to come from GUI Installers.

Just another thought, any chance you have another SD on hand ?

Thanks for putting the time into giving us feedback :)

Ok, just flashed another (different) SDHC, this one is an older 4GB Class 6 whereas the former one is an 8GB Class 10. I used the manual method. Same problem. RasPlex installs and boots fine. Once the cache has been built, media poster art is very grainy and metadata (MP4, AAC, AC3 5.1 H.264 720/1080p icons ) look corrupted.

Thanks for looking into this.

UPDATE: Looks like the corrupted icons might be down to PMS (0.9.7.22.511-4b5280f) as I see the same white blocks instead of the media metadata icons on other clients including iOS Plex and PlexWeb, PlexHT seems to work fine. I'll try forcing a re-scan of my library to see if that clears it up.

UPDATE 2: Examining the Media-Flags.bundle in the PMS.app confirms the .JPGs are not corrupted but PMS's transcode of the JPG from the bundle returns a white block .jpeg file hence why I am seeing this on some clients including RasPlex. What PMS version are you running?

I just wanted to mention that my cache rebuilt automatically and sucessfully with HD artwork.  The iPhone photo doesn't do it justice though.

For my Movie sections I also have the white blocks instead of the media info on the Pi.  PC software and iOS apps work fine with the proper icons.

After doing a re-flash of the SD card I still get the same results! The artwork seems to be HD but the thumbnails in On-deck and Recently-Added look blocky and LoRes. The same goes when drilling down to the Movie folders and TV folders! Fan Art and Movie posters seem to be in HD?!

It is locking up left and right with strange screen artifacts! I am going to re-flash it back to .35 and wait for a fix!

The strange white blocks people are reporting now show up in the main GUI! This release has problems.

Keep up the good work though ;)

Went back to .35. Much better the strange thing is that all the thumbs look much better then in .36! Of course al the fan-art and Movie-posters are lo-res but the thumbnails look so much better then in .36. Not sure if that makes any sense!?

in 0.1.36, fanarts, posters and thumbs should be all HD afaik. There is though an issue with media flags which are coming up as white boxes.

Just for the heck of it I stopped PMS and moved everything in the "Plug-ins" folder to a backup location. Started PMS and let it recreate the contents. Media flags are OK again!  :)
