Does anyone else subscribed to the HDHOMERUN Premium Live TV(Cable Channels) experience buffering when watching via PLEX? I have mine setup to obtain both the Premium TV and Channels from Local Antenna via a Silicondust HDHOMERUN Quatro. The weird behavior is that the channels coming from the Antenna all work fine without any buffering/stuttering but the Channels from the Premium TV buffer. Its a weird behavior where the channels sometimes mute or the audio isn’t in sync with the video playing and then randomly it catches up and will work for maybe a minute and do the same thing again. As a troubleshooting step, I used the hdhomerun app on mobile and on the xbox and the PREMIUM TV channels play fine there and only stutter via PLEX. I will obtain the logs after reproducing and attach here.
What Plex client is this happening on?
Also, maybe monitoring the CPU on the PMS might shed some light as well.
This happens on iOS plex client, android client and the ROKU as well. When playing LIVE TV, the CPU on the PLEX server is fine and hovers around 20% and memory is around 2.4-4GB usage out of 8GB RAM.
I have no stuttering whatsoever via plex.
But my equipment and internet speed are all good.

1gb hard wired network internally but 2 802ac wifi clients also
PMS is Intel 8700X, 40GB ram, and all ssd except for media libraries
All OSs are Linux (Mostly Manjaro)
I guess that just says that good results are definitely possible.
Yeah my equipment is good as well. From ISP, Verizon FIOS with 840/960Mbps Up/Down. 24Port Gigabit switch, whole house hard wired with Cat 6Ethernet. Streaming Local Channels from Antenna isn’t a problem at all even when on LTE(except on Android… ongoing issues). Its only the Premium Channels from HDHOMERUN that buffer. The local ones coming from the same hdhomerun device stream fine. I will dig more into it to see if I can figure out what’s going on.
Its was working fine after I did the signup and setup for about a few days and just randomly stopped working.
Don’t discount the possibility that the servers (Silicon Dust’s) streaming the content can’t keep up with demand.
I am seeing the same issue with the premium channels. Just noticed maybe 2 days ago. Playing the same stream at the same time in Emby there is no stuttering and no audio delay. OTA works great in both.
Same issue here. Doesn’t matter if I am using Xbox One, Roku etc… I have setup server on different machines and get the same result. It is fine when using the HD Homerun software.
Glad to know it’s not just me. Still baffles me how it plays fine using the HDHOMERUN app on the same LAN as the PLEX server and works without any issues. I also tried the HDHOMERUN channel in Plex. That one plays the LOCAL channels from the Antenna fine but isn’t able to stream the PREMIUM channels. Perhaps once the Plex Team is able to release some kind of update for the Guide Data to be correct, then maybe they can look into the buffering/stuttering issue.

On a Roku premier, Emby - No problem. Plex stuttering. On a Roku Tv, Emby no problem, Plex Stuttering. On AT4K, Emby fine - Plex stuttering. It seems like it is the server. On the beta of PMS.

Are you using the Plex Beta Channel as well for updates? or what is your Plex server version? I am on Version 1.13.6.5339 running on Windows
1.13.6.5339 Windows, I wonder when the last update happened. I don’t remember seeing this issue before this weekend. I might go back to the previous build.
Just checked, updated 1.13.6.5339 on Aug 22nd. Pretty sure problem didn’t exist then.
Umm, I think this problem started when I switched to this epg For those who purchase the HdHomeRun Premium (Live) Video Service, this is how you can get your Epg! might just be coincidence.
Yeah I am 100% certain the problem didn’t exist after the last update was applied. Things were working fine until a few days ago when i kept noticing the stuttering. Early part of last week, I was able to watch fine without any stuttering and without applying any updates or making any change, it just started occurring.
I am having the same issue. HD HomeRun app plays smoothly. Plex however stutters occasionally and audio is out of sync within minutes of starting playback of a premium channel.
@hokey1, would the EPS play a role in streaming quality via plex? I thought that was just guide data. I too have the same setup as you, using that EPG solution you posted a link to.

Thoughts… I know Silicon Dust is working to improve the quality of their streams, so it’s quite possible they’ve done something on the outside to influence the issue. What version of the HD Homerun are you all using?
I know that Plex may transcode the incoming feed, whereas the HD Homerun app may play the streams untouched. Emby may be doing this as well.
It might be choking on a higher bitrate stream than it was previously receiving. Pure theory.
I am using the HDHOMERUN Connect Quatro.
I went back to the regular epg and it made no difference. I am now back to the custom epg. I upgraded to the quatto Friday. I don’t remember seeing the problem on the dou.

See this thread for my particulars. Server has no utilization issues at all and I have 250Mbps up and down on the internet side. Antenna channels are flawless even if I have 3 streams at the same time.
