I have a Edimax Wifi dongle (EW-7811Un) plugged in to my Pi. I am having problems getting the wifi to work in RasPlex.
I am able to connect to my home wifi when booting into Raspbian so I know the hardware is fine. I have copied the same settings from Raspbian into Rasplex via Preferences > Rasplex Settings > Network 2 but nothing seems to happen. My ethernet settings are currently entered under Network.
How do I get the wifi to actually connect? Do I need to do something after entering the correct settings?
Are there any drivers that I need to install for RaspPlex? Should the dongle "just work"?
Where can I find the log files to see what is going on?
Ive got exactly the same dongle. It works out of the box for me. Dont copy anything from raspbian. Install rasplex, go to network settings and put your settings there. After a reboot it works for me
I have a Edimax dongle and you have to reboot to get it working. Also another tip: your SSID is case-sensitive. Took me several reboots to figure that out.
I am using the same wireless dongle and cannot get any wireless connection. Could someone put up some detailed instructions on how the got this to work.
Mine worked briefly earlier after a reboot - I suddenly noticed it reporting my Plex server name in Rasplex (that's the only way I new that it was actually connecting!)
Unfortunately now it seems to be broken again. I have rebooted the device several times but nothing. It seems wifi is a bit temperamental.
Where are the logs located so that I can take a look?
It just started working again. On this occasion I went to Shutdown first, before unplugging it and plugging it in again. I can't explain how that would make a difference, but it seems to work - weird...
The blue light on the Edimax does not even light up. I am a little concerned that the dongle may be defective. I plugged it into mt pc and it started looking for windows drivers but still no light on the dongle.
So folks, the OpenELEC guys are cooking up a much nicer Wifi dialog. I'm hoping to merge in the WIP to see if we can make use of it right away. Stay tuned.
