Hello everyone. I am not able to get my plex server working.
It has worked well for years, originally built on a Windows 7 computer, then lazyness made me convert it to a VM and hosted it on a better machine. This worked fine however I knew it was about time to upgrade. I also linked my server / account with my cousin’s plex for a while. Everything worked fine but somehow my own plex account was no longer admin and I couldn’t create new users when I wanted to.
So I decided to unlink everything. At this point I could never get my Server back with my account which I figured … Windows 7 is dead. No point trying to relink such an outdated insecure device.
So I created myself a new VM using Ubuntu Server 22.04
I didn’t have any trouble with the setup (getting the signing for the package), installing, mapping my shared drive containing all my stuff.
My issue is when I go to \ipaddress:32400/web
I get to the window saying " This application is at ipaddress and is not hosted by Plex. Continue only if you recognize this server and wish to grant access.
Which seems good.
But when I then continue with Email to login… it authenticates and then gives me
Not Authorized
You do not have access to this server.
I googled.
rebooted the server
I verified the Preferences.xml file in ```
/var/lib/plexmediaserver/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/
My preference.xml file seems pretty blank

I am out of ideas and I am thinking it's not the server, but my account, which I did all I can to reset it it to default....
Any ideas or suggestions?
