I am running on a Mac - When I first set up my server I was logged on under my user name. Later I decided it was better that if I’m going to keep it up and running, to use my other user login so that my private files are kept that way. When I logged onto my other mac user login it had me download everything again and create another server. So how do i run both servers on my one login i want to keep open? Its a pain to toggle back and forth to users as i tend download on both. Do i just need to alter my IP on one server? I do have flex pass as I like to let my kids remote in. My hope was keep on server KID friendly and the other can be both. I do have multiple flex users set up but found using the parental control can be a pain as main movie just don’t list a rating and when i put the blocks on a good amount are blocked as the rating is unknown. So in a nut shell how do i run 2 servers on one MAC that regardless of the computer user login both servers will appear available?
I am struggling to see the need for two servers in your user case, tbh. If you disregard the automatic tag function (PG etc) I see two potential solutions that do not involve the intricate setup, and usage of, two servers.
One would be to create and have two movie libraries, two TV show libraries etc. That way you avoid the whole parental control issue. If you only share that movie library to your kids, to which you have added all kids movies, it will only show that library and no other.
Granted, that is a bit blunt, but the other options would be to use the second option besides using the automatic rating system (PG etc) and set your own labels on each item (remember that you can mark several and lable many at the same time). See https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/204232573-Restricting-the-Shares
You can create arbitrary Labels when editing Library content. When sharing, you can then choose to include a particular Label to have content matching that Label shared.
oh wow I didn’t know about this…I am going to do this instead.
