HELP!!! NO matches to new items!

Plex suddenly stopped finding matches to any new items I add to my server! I searched all through these boards, but none of the fixes I found worked. It doesn’t matter what agent I use, no matches are ever found. What the heck is going on???

Yep, tried that, but everything is as it should be. I uploaded files one day and they all got matched just fine, the next day’s uploads got no matches whatsoever (not even Personal Media!).

I signed out and signed back in. I shut down the computer and rebooted. I rebooted the router. I turned off the Firewall and the Anti-Virus. None of that worked. Anything new I add does not find any matches at all.

Well… personal media will never be matched against one of the online databases. What exactly happens when you add a new file and re-scan that library? Does the file show up in Plex or not? Does it get any metadata or none at all?

Some “personal media” will be matched against one of the online databases, such as movies I rip from Blu-Rays and DVDs that I own. But when I add new movies to the Plex Media Server, it will not find matches for it no matter which agent I use, all show “No Match Found.” The movies are available on the server, but I can’t match it, which means I can’t assign posters, descriptions, etc., unless I add them myself. I have too many movies in my library for that, I don’t have time to input everything myself; that’s part of why I started using Plex in the first place.

We’re talking of different things!
When you edit the settings of this library… what scanner/agent have you set there? (see screenshot below)

“Personal Media” refers to the agent used for home videos / “other videos”. Plex does not match home videos against an online database!
What media type did you pick for this library of yours?

I have the same issue.

Mind sharing any details so someone can help you?

Media Type is Movies, and the Scanner and Agent are both Plex. I understand the difference between home movies vs ripped movie discs, as well as which agent works for which media type. I just wanted to make sure everything is as clear as possible for the sake of anyone else having the same issue.

please do me a favor.
can you add some new movie and re-scan your library? alternatively move an existing movie file out of the library folder, re-scan, re-add the file and re-scan the library again (preferable for one of those movies giving you a hard time).

when Plex is done with the processing…
download your server logs (Settings > Server > Help > Download Logs) and attach the zip-file here.

It keeps telling me the file failed to upload. Is there a size limit?

did you attach those logs to your post? nothing showing at my end o:)

It keeps telling me the file failed to upload. Is there a size limit?

there shouldn’t be… you’ll find lots of log files zipped and attached in the forums.

I downloaded a new zip file and tried to upload that, but again it says the file failed to upload.

Try this link, it’s the file on my web site. I know it isn’t ideal, but it bypasses the upload problem.

wow… haven’t seen so many errors and warnings for quite some time.
Plex is failing to even find their own home (https://plex.tv). Do you use some special DNS server or IPv6?
do you have some general network/internet issues or only with Plex?

We recently upgraded our internet and ditched cable. The new router wouldn’t let me share Plex outside the network until I did the port forwarding. But that was weeks ago, before the problems started. And the problems are only with Plex.

any firewall on your server or router which could block Plex from connecting to their backend?

There is a firewall, but I changed permissions so it will allow all Plex communications. I tested it by turning the Firewall off and trying to update a movie in Plex, but still no luck.

This might sound stupid… what happens if you try to access https://plex.tv from the machine your Plex Media Server is running on?
If it doesn’t work… can you access the link from another computer in your home network or your mobile (when not connected to your home WLAN)?
