HELP - Not available outside your network

Im trying to set up the system so that i can access my media files outside my local network.

Iv read a lot of other people seeking help but i cant seem to get it fixed.

When i try to test port 32400 on http://www.canyouseeme.org/ i get a “connection timed out”

I have fiber internet and there is a little box on the wall that i cant access in any way, that leads to a router provided by my internet provider. Its a Zyxel VMG3925-B10B

In the Zyxel setup I have tried to add a static IP to the computer that has the Plex media server installed.

I have also added a rule to windows firewall to opewn a port for TCP 32400.

Im pretty lost now. What info do you guys need to help me further and please help me
Going on vacation with the kids and they need their media fix to get by(and daddy needs some peace once in a while)!

Kindly

Bruno

btw this is the error i get

Your server is signed in to Plex, but is not reachable from outside your network. Learn more
Tip: It looks like your server may be connected to the internet through multiple routers or other network devices. Try connecting it directly to your primary device, or visit our support site for more information about troubleshooting this “Double-NAT” scenario.

You are half way there… Now you just need to setup a port forward for 32400 going to the machine IP you setup as static.

thanks for the encouragement

Is this port forward in the firewall or what system?

I am assuming the same zyxel where you setup the static ip above.

I googled that model and port forwarding and it showed shots similar to the one you posted but for port forwarding.

All you need is port 32400 and that IP you setup above to populate it, if you need post shots of the port forwarding and we can help populate it.

I found the section in the router about port forwarding. I still think i need a bit help filling in the fields

in the dropdown i can choose

  • WWAN
  • ADSL
  • VDLS
  • ETHWAN
  • default

iv tried to add 32400 and the static IP - it did not work

Do you use the VDSL for your WAN interface? ( I know seriously they make everything into acronyms )

All the rest looks right…

Can you get find the WAN IP of your Zyxel? and does that IP match what canyouseeme.org shows?

I have no clue about VDLS for my WAN interface  How do i check that?

I can see an IP on canyouseeme.org and it shows as a success when testing with the port 32400

but it does not match the one i have used in Zyxel. The one used in Zyxel is the internal one 192.168.x.x - the one canyouseeme.org sees is the “outside” IP

did I use the wrong IP then?

i dont know if this helps at all?

So your Zyxel should have 2 IPs.

1 - Internal or LAN with 192.168.x.x and in your case is probably 192.168.1.1
2 - External or WAN with hopefully a Public IP that starts with anything but 10.x.x.x, 192.168.x.x, 172.16.x.x or 100.x.x.x

so the IP on canyouseeme.org should match your WAN and looks like it starts with 82. can you find this WAN IP on yours?

Should look something similar to this, sorry about the A, B and C on the diagram I just took it form the zyxel site

i finally found that screen

(i have no clue if i needed to blur anything. Can this be misused?)

It looks like the IP from canyouseeme.org is not the one shown in that list. What does that mean?

So yeah based on that it looks like the 100. is probably a Carrier grade NAT which means you are in a double NAT situation.
From this link

You should contact your ISP and see if you can get a “static public IP”

i can see from their website that they sell the static IPs, so that might be the way forward…

I did just realize that after the last reboot i did not switch off my VPN.
Could that cause the issue?

The canyouseeme.org success was when the VPN was still on. (the IP that starts with 82.) I just tested again with the VPN turned off and now its not seeing me :frowning:

after some more research i can see that they use CGNAT as standard but it can be changed by contacting them, i have done that, so lets hope that it will solve the issue!

They fixed it right away and whaddayaknow - Its all working now! Thanks so much for the help nokdim!
