Help with install of PMS -

Hey guys,
Im running a synology ds414 on DSM 6.2.2.

I installed Plex Media Server on my NAS, set it up and could see it fine. I tried to set it up on my samsung tv (old) using the Plex App and it connected to the PMS. I could see files but when trying to play them I got a ‘couldn’t connect to PMS’ error’. I suspect that might be an internal network issue but not 100%.

Since then I went back to my NAS, and now I can’t see the pms server in the web app when launched from the server.

I have tried uninstalling, reinstalling. Updated to most recent versions of both Plex and DSM. I have ensured that the NAS is connected to the network and internet (which I’m pretty sure it is). I have also tried a couple of the other suggestions on the forums to try to get it to work.

I have attached the logs here and would welcome any type of help of getting the server up and running. Visible and with all my videos and music on it.

I used to have an Intel NUC which ran Kodi however that died so i’m looking at Plex as a potential replacement. Worst case, I play everything through dlna, but then i don’t get to track what i’ve watched and have all the other benefits of using a proper player such as plex.

Any advice would be welcome. thanks in advance!

thanks will do.

I understand that the transcoding etc isn’t ble to be done on the nas, but I should be able to direct play or stream I thought.

I’ll go and reboot the router now and let you know. Will that then let me see the pms do you think?

Thanks

ok. so router and others rebooted.

I still can’t see the server/library in the web app. It just spins around looking for it and telling me to download the plex media server.

Could it be an authenticating issue?

thanks for that! I enabled the ssh. then started to follow the instructions. I saw at the end that if you have issues, delete the preferences in the Plex folders. I have done that, then voila.

My claimed server is now showing. Library there and all. So I’ll have a bit of a play around with it and see if i can get it streaming to my various devices.

thanks!

will do. thanks. just testing on my phone now.
