My Plex server is on my Synology NAS and all my movies are loaded on it. But I have an external Western Digital drive that has all music that I would like to add to Plex. The external drive is connected with a network cable to a switch and that is then connected to my router.
Plex only see’s my NAS so I tried adding the path the the external drive (\MYBOOKLIVE\Public\Shared Music), but after Plex adds it nothing shows up. I have been scratching my head on this for awhile and looking online but still have not found an answer. I cannot connect the external drive directly to the NAS since its an older drive that only has a network connection, no USB, etc.
Do use the actual IP address like this? /192.168.1.6/Public/Shared Music
Or like this? \MYBOOKLIVE\Public\Shared Music
Also if I do CFIS its asking for an Account Name and Password. I dont have one on the WD drive (only to log into the admin settings of the actual drive…not to any folders on the drive). When I leave the Account Name and Password blank it says “Failed to connect to the remote folder. Please make sure the remote folder is accessible via CFIS protocol” What Account Name and Password is this asking for???
If I do NFS, following the info I put in 192.168.1.6:\Public\Shared Music, I leave v3 and TCP alone, the Mount is automatically populated and I get this error: “Connection failed. Please make sure the remote server is accessible via NFS”
I’m pretty sure I have it shared. I’m logged into the admin for the WD and under Shared, I can see the Public folder which the Music folder lives.
Other than that, not sure what else to do or to look
