Plex Documentation → Your Media
→ Naming & Organizing Your TV Show Files
→ Naming & Organizing Your Movie Files
Follow Plex naming and organization requirements.
Example: .../movies/Despicable Me (2010)/Despicable Me (2010).ext ← ext = mkv/mp4/etc.
nope i didnt work just made the file unplayable
Using Plex Web, edit the movie (pencil icon) → Info
It will show the full path and file name.
Take a screenshot and upload to the thread (drag pic into message window, or use upload icon).
Make sure your library (WHICH BETTER BE A “SHOWS” LIBRARY) points at the /tv part of your path. I bolded that above.
If you have movies, make sure those are in a separate folder (such as “/plexlibrary/movies/MOVIES_HERE”), and make a new library (THIS ONE SHOULD BE A MOVIES LIBRARY) and point it at the /movies folder, that I bolded up above.
Also, lastofus is a bad name for the tv show folder, it should be The Last of Us (2023), which is the EXACT name and release date of the show on IMDB/TVDB/TMDB. If you use anything else, or even enter the wrong year, Plex will have a hard time recognizing the show.
ok ill try i fell asleep
Didn’t work all is true and I changed the name I don’t know why Plex wont see the show
Can I see a screenshot of both of your
your Library’s “Add folders” panel? Click the triple dot ... menu on the library, Manage Library > Edit... > Add folders.
You need to follow the Plex documentation on naming and organization (linked in an earlier reply).
With Inside Out 2:
a) Rename per documentation
b) What are Sample 1 and Sample 2? They need to be either removed or placed in a folder for extras.
After you rename and reorganize, Plex Dance the movie.
Example:
/plexlibrary/movies <-- folder added to movie library
../Inside Out 2 (2024) <-- movie_name (year)
..../Inside Out 2 (2024).mp4 <-- movie_name (year).ext; ext = mp4/mkv/etc.
..../Other <-- to hold "other" type extras
....../Sample 1.mp4
....../Sample 2.mp4
i can see inside out 2 i removed the sample thingys but i cant see OTHER MOVIES
Make sure you follow Plex documentation on naming and organization.
Please provide a directory listing, screenshot, etc. showing how the files are named and organized.
Example:
/plexlibrary/tv <-- folder added to TV show library
../The Last of Us (2023) <-- show_name (intro_year)
..../Season 01 <-- "Season" in English
....../The Last of Us (2023) s01e01.ext <-- sXXeYY format important; ext=mkv/mp4/etc.
....../The Last of Us (2023) s01e02 Infected.ext <-- episode name optional
/plexlibrary/tv/The Last of Us (2023)/Season 1/The.Last.of.Us.S01E09.720p.HMAX.WEBRip.x264-GalaxyTV
Silly question, but did you do a “Scan Library Files” after making these changes? So far everything looks like it ought to work, but you might just need to tell Plex to look again.
(Side note: I think Plex prefers leading zeroes on season numbers. I doubt it is necessary, but it wouldn’t hurt to put it in.)
yes i did and what are leading zeros like i put zeros in front of the season?
leading zeros
Season 01 instead of Season 1.
