The “Skip Intro” feature can be turned off for new media by a Plex Server Admin:

How do I turn off "Skip intro"?

Q: I never want to see this overlay on my screen. How do I turn it off completely?

I’ve done so on the server I manage. However, I still see the “Skip Intro” button when viewing shows on a friend’s server I’m connected to as a non-admin.

I find the bright yellow “Skip Intro” button very distracting - it always pops in at the wrong time, right as the “Previously On” or cold open is reaching its crescendo, and kind of kills the vibe.

I general enjoy watching a show’s intro, and very rarely want to skip it. On the occasions I do, I’d rather just manually use the Skip Forward command a couple times.

Please expose a Plex user setting that disables/enables “Skip Intro” for that Plex user (on all servers).

This user setting should be independent of Generate intro video markers and hide the “Skip Intro” button even if video markers have been previously generated.

I see that “Skip Credits” has now been introduced. Like intros, I similarly never want to skip the credits or have the video shrink to a thumbnail when the credits start. Please offer a way for video players and each individual user to not show the Skip Intro and Skip Credits buttons.

This is additionally needed because setting Generate intro video markers to never does not actually hide the “Skip Intro” button.

That option only prevents the Skip Intro timestamps from being generated for any newly added media.

“Skip Intro” will continue to be displayed for any past media that has already had its intro timestamps generated.

So your saying Analyze Media will not revert the skip Intro markers etc

There probably is a way to remove generated intro markers - either via The Plex Dance or Analyze Media, etc.

That does not solve this Feature Request though, as you cannot delete intro markers on a Plex Server that you do not control.

The show/hide of the Skip Intro button should be a user player setting, regardless of what intro markers have or haven’t been generated on the server.

An equally annoying “Skip Credits” button is now showing up for this same server after having been implemented/announced here: https://support.plex.tv/articles/credits-detection/

I’ve edited this forum topic to include both annoying buttons. Please offer a way for users (not server admins) to hide them.

Thanks for making this suggestion! The skip intro button for television didn’t bother me that much but the skip credits button for movies is very distracting. I have a Plex Pass so all my local media was scanned for skip credits. I also have a lot of very old movies that don’t have ending credits. The algorithm got confused by that so now that skip credits pops up in random places.

To be clear I’m fine with keeping this feature on the server side. I just want a toggle on the player side to suppress these buttons. (I use Plex HTPC)

I really, really hate the “up next” screen on Android TV appearing during the credits, especially because credits detection actually seems to be quite bad at zeroing in on the credits. I don’t mind the credits data, and a button would be OK, but let me opt out of the terrible tiny thumbnail interface (which then STILL has the 15 second delay after conclusion).

Can’t believe there still isn’t an option to turn off “shrinking video at credits” as a PLAYER option.

It doesn’t work correctly for tons of shows. I’m constantly having to click back on the video in order to watch the last 10 seconds of an episode. Completely pulls me out of the immersion.

Please add a way so I never have the intro or credits skipped regardless of what the sever admin has checked.

I just recently noticed, that you paywalled the feature behind Plex Pass in a very nefarious way.

Because you choose to have the default to shrinking the video at the begin of the credits, (which clearly NOBODY wants), all my friends and family without plex pass are left and annoyed with this “feature”.

I initially thought the whole credits detection stuff is not available at all for non pass users?

Similarly, I hate watching intros and credits, but I find that having to wait for a countdown timer to play for 5 seconds before it “auto-skips” (which makes no sense - auto-skip means to skip it entirely, not show 5 seconds of it) to be incredibly grating

Is there a way to turn off this timer completely?
