High memory usage TS-453Be, 8 GB

:slight_smile: I wasn’t using the HD Station Plex Player at all since you’ve told me that is no longer supported.

Last week I’ve only used Plex server in combination with the Plex player (both android and iOS) and Chromecast.

And in my last post reply, the scenario was next: android/iOS Plex player + Chromecast usage, both local network with the NAS → high system resources usage → Plex Server stopped on the NAS → NAS restart → started Plex server → Plex player (android/iOS + Chromecast) not used at all → added new files on the media folders → NAS resources used a lot by Plex server, as in the screenshot from above

Basically the Plex app from the HD Station is out of the equation for at least 2 weeks ago :slight_smile:

Hi Plex people!

Update on my high memory usage issue:

  • yesterday I’ve upgraded the RAM from my NAS from 8 to 16 GB hoping that yeah, Plex is using RAM but it shouldn’t need to use that much.
  • after firing up the NAS after the RAM upgrade, I’ve started the Plex server but I didn’t use it;
  • today, when I’ve connected remotely to my NAS, I’ve found the NAS resources used near to max again, and again by Plex:

For me all of this looks like memory and CPU leak
 I still don’t get what in the world can create that resources usage from the Plex server having in mind that it wasn’t used at all :hot_face:

Scheduled tasks

Take a note of what’s enabled, and then disable half of them, followed by a PMS restart.

Continue doing so until you pick the one that’s draining your system, and then report back

Also check, that no remote user is using it, since that could also be a remote transcode

@dane22, thanks for your input, it may actually helped.

Besides Scheduled tasks, I was so pissed of and:

  • I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled the whole server on QNAP;
  • I didn’t added the music (I wasn’t use it/listen music on Plex);
  • changed the below Scheduled tasks (please correct me if some still needs to run).

Since then the Plex Server system resources usage looks decent but I will monitor (even using unsupported Plex Media Theater from the HDS/HDMI).

and the scheduled tasks:

Thank you again, fingers crossed.

I would enable media analyze, since that is used by Plex when adding new stuff

And did you happen to take a note of what was enabled before the reinstall?

Which Media analyze do you mean - upgrade media analysis
 or perform extensive media analysis

They were set as default, I never touched that setting part but it may be also the fact that the Music source had ~50K songs :thinking:

Both IMHO

I’m experiencing the same issue on my TS-451+ the plex app will balloon in memory size. I could only access the nas via ssh. The app was using 18,815mb of memory and constantly swapping. After a restart of the app it goes back down to 2308mb of memory. What logs can I provide?
