Hisense Plex App Needs Update

Is the Plex app on my Hisense TV ever going to be updated to the new UNO version that has come out on the Roku? The Hisense app looks a lot like the Plex Retro which is outdated, we need an update.

Been a long time since the Hisense app got an update.

Still waiting on a fix for the broken play/stop/ff etc buttons… it’s been 18 months and still no joy…https://forums.plex.tv/t/bug-in-latest-hisense-release-remote-control-button-regression/223057

And Tidal doesn’t work on the Hisense TV app… come on Plex!

Come on Plex! Stop with the fluff and useless ā€œfeaturesā€ and put some effort into core functionality. Actually having all versions of the app WORK would be a good start. The hisense app is barely useable. There really is no excuse for the disdain with which you treat your (paid!) userbase

I would appreciate if my plex for hisense app would not transcode video stream even if played at original quality…Annotation%202019-08-16%20231315

i have been a monthly paid plex users for a long time now, i would love to see a update. my current issue is the sound drops out at time and the only way to fix it is to fast forward it.
i cannot and will not use a Roku or firestick or even apple(all have no number key pad support) i need my pin security so my kids don’t have access to content they shouldn’t have. so please fix the flipping app. STOP making deals with studios for a so-called free content that no one has been asking for and fix all of the apps

I’m am really disappointed in the efforts from plex, not to assist the millions of plex supporters using Hisense products, myself recently bought another a Hisense 65a6100uw Smart TV just for plex, I’m a plex user for the last decade. From my understanding is that the interface on the Hisense is old and the code for the Hisense app is web based http://plex.tv/web/tv/opera (opera store changed to vewd store) and Samsung applications is Tizen based so my question is why is it so difficult to update a website?

I am also having this issue on my Hisense tv 50h6d (https://www.hisense-usa.com/electronics/tv/50h6d) and it is funny how 4K movies even if they are natively supported by their OS when it comes plex… all suck :V not even seeing HDR it goes all the way back to FullHD :sob:

Keeping this thread alive. I have a Hisense U8B, natively supports h264, h265 and every flavour of HDR. No HDR with the Plex app.

I’ve cancelled my PlexPass, suggest you all do the same. Might as well use Jellyfin for free and cast to the TV. I’ll start paying for Plex again when the devs start implementing all the features and fixes people have requested rather than bloating it with things nobody wants.

all the new free movies/tv content added to plex doesn’t work in the hisense app (not for me anyway).

My Hisense app is v3. 13.13 and is looking old and has much of the functionality missing. No search via actors, no links connecting that movies to other movies in my database, from the same actors etc.

Can you at least ad some of the functions?

I am plex pass user and it is not OK to pay for something that is barely functional.

A Plex Pass was never required for the free apps on smart TVs. So that is not what you paid for when you decided to purchase a Plex Pass.

The high sense smart TV is no longer supported. I suspect that is not going to change. The best advice is to get an over the top streaming device such as a Roku, Apple TV, or Fire TV.

Wow great solution, tell the customer ā€œthat isn’t what you paid for so deal with itā€ basically. And it’s Hisense not ā€œhigh senseā€ look it up!

How about instead of NOT supporting something you guys actually put in some work and support a popular TV brand instead of telling people to spend more money on streaming boxes when they already have a smart TV!

I’m glad I never gave a dime to Plex because it’s obvious you guys simply DO NOT care!

If I remember correctly this subject came up a couple years ago. Plex Inc required hardware to test and it was not forth coming. The discussion was with a Plex employee. So my assumption is that support was halted.

As for comments above darcilicous, he is not an employee. He is a volunteer ninja and TV apps have always been free and you never needed a pass, paid (Subscription). Example: Xplay is a paid app that supports Plex Media server.

Spell check on the forums, will always correct nouns as a Name.

Support for the Hisense obviously did not fit with UNO development for what ever reason, the moderator was just suggesting a non expensive alternative.

To sum it up, volunteers moderators inclusive give there time for free in the interests of the platform.

Unfortunately you seem to be frayed to the point of not being rational and endeavor to shoot done forum members with peppered language. This has only demonstrated your lack of overall knowledge of the Plex ecosystem and common respect for fellow forum members.

Sometimes voice to text just sucks. But you knew exactly what I was talking about so it’s all good right?

So. My Hisense Plex App is breaking down my Plex Media Server every time I start it. This happens after updating my Server to version 1.18.6.2348.

I can not understand why nobody from the Plex team can update the Plex App for Hisense.
Hey, I paid for Plex, because its a great server. But the most Player Apps… :scream:. I’m waiting since 2018 for an update (BUG in latest Hisense release - Remote control button regression) without any response from Plex team.

Tell us, what can we do to force you updating the App??? PLEASE.

Kind regards
Ralf

The moral of this story:

Don’t buy a Roku TV.
Buy a good TV and put a Roku Ultra on it.
In a year or two if it becomes necessary to buy a new Roku - a Box is cheaper than a TV and a Box is WAY easier to keep updated in the meantime.

As for this particular ā€˜Nonsense’ Roku TV - you need an Ultra right now.
Unfortunately.
