Hisense Smart TV 3.13.13 Problems

Server Version#:1.15.1.710
Player Version#:3.13.13

Since today (27/02/18) I am unable to use the plex app on my smart tv. I was using it 2 days ago but today it took ages to load then when navigating to some shows the app reports the media is missing. I did manage to get an episode start playing but it also keeps stopping then reporting the media is missing.

My android, ios and xbox one apps all work fine.

Did something change server side in an update that would cause the Hisense app to fail?

Same problem here. I can access the app but nothing will play

For me it sees all the files, plays about one second of a video and then goes back to the video description page.

Hi, this has started doing the same for me. Not on everything. At the moment MP4 isn’t playing but MKV is.

I’ve an LG Smart TV and everything plays on there fine, so it isn’t the server or the source video.

Same issue, have not tried any Audio variations to app settings

I’ve got a few players, Xbox one, iOS, Mac OS and Amazon Fire. All play the files with no issue, it’s the Hisense player that is the issue.

Odd how it has just started as it was fine until a week or so ago. I havent noticed an update.

There was a server update recently, another today. (Beta channel) so im guessing whatever changed server side broke the version Hisense use. Its definitely just that player, I have a lot of devices and I have tried them all, Xbox one, mac, windows 10, iphone, ipad, amazon fire tv, even crappy chinese android box (without DTS) all navigate fine through sections (very slow on Hisense) and then all devices play fine, apart from Hisense which sometimes starts to play a file then says file is missing, doesn’t even play, just sits with 3 horizontal dots or finally locks up on the menu before I can even play a thing.

No change then? Anyone found a working combination of TV version and server version? What formats play and what dont?

We’re able to play here but resuming from previous position no longer works. We also have the issue of the play/pause/fast forward/rewind buttons not working and just pulling the options up.

Same for me, everytime i try with the hisense app , i’ve got the error screen with the dog. I try to re-associate the tv and the plex sever (https://plex.tv/link), but still same issue

Does anyone know if and when this issue will be resolved as i am now having the same with the error ā€œthe video did not start playing in timeā€

I too am having problems with the same version of Plex for Hisense. I find that I have to enable all the audio tick boxes in Settings under Audio and I change the Video to 4.2 (I believe BluRay H264 default is 4.1 anyway) and if you’re set to 4.0, it’ll transcode regardless. Push it to 5.0 and I just start getting crashes left, right and centre.

Most of the movies I have I just use the built in ā€œMediaā€ app and search via DLNA for the Plex Server and usually Direct Plays both video and audio.

Hisense need to update the app… simple as that.

I’m also having issues. For me the stream won’t go past ~9Mbps and the playback stalls once every 10-30 seconds.

I also tested the same video, from the same plex server, on my windows PC it also goes straight to 80Mbps.

I also tested Youtube on the same TV with 4K video, and it goes straight to 80Mbps on with no stalls.

Fix the app please!

I have given up hope of a fix. It must be something Hisense are doing, a few days afterwards there was a firmware update for the TV. It changed the store part a little, updated the logo’s of a few apps. It also REMOVED smartiptv from their store which I also used. I have now switched to using plex on my xbox one. Its simply brilliant. If you have one give it a try. Full HEVC playback, 4k looks ok too. Pretty much everything I play direct streams, and passes the DTS/DTS-HD audio to my Onkyo amp.

Same here, hasn’t worked properly in a few months. Started with a few files stopping at the beginning but could ā€˜trick’ it by getting past about 60s on another device then playing on the TV.
Now, nothing is playing (well, about 1s worth) before going back to home screen and tricking it only results in about 30s of playback before it stops.

I’ll be cancelling my Plex subscription if this isn’t/can’t be resolved soon as it’s the only device I use.

Fingers crossed someone at Plex is reading this!

Its not really the fault of Plex. Im pretty sure the Hisense version is delivered from a Hisense server. Other platforms seem to be getting upgrades.

Same issue here.
Hisense H50AE6000 with 3.13.13 Plex App.
App stops responding when starting to play any movie.
Hitting exit plays the sound of the TV again but atill Plex UI - so powering off the TV only helps.
