Yes I was able to create users yesterday, now today I cant, I also have a Plex Pass
Hello,
I am also experiencing this issue.
Cancelling and resending the invite does not fix it…
Could you help? I sent you a PM.
Is this an already known bug?
Same here! Any chance we can get a hand? It’s also weird, when my friend tries to accept the invitation on the app, not via the link, the share is also removed (as if the invitation failed). Anyway you can help?
The new user needs to have a username in their account settings. They probably only set an email.
Go to account settings on the new user and add a username.
Voalla
Same here. The error was happening when I use chrome browsers. I change to Firefox and invite works fine.
This worked for me. I created my “friends” account for them, assigned a username and then used the username to share the account from my plex server.
thanks
I have having this issue also with one user. I tried multiple email addresses for them and they still get the error. Any ideas?
Same error. Invitation Error. Is there a fix till now?
@anon18523487 I am having similar issues with my invites. I have sent 3 invites and 2 of them are getting the same error of unable to accept invite. Do you need my email address or theirs?
Thanks!
I need their’s.
I got it to work by inviting friends via their username and using Firefox instead of Chrome
I am also having issues for my users. I am inviting by username, but when they click the link they receive the “Hmm, an invite error…” message.
Since they are existing plex accounts, and they have access to other plex shares, I wouldn’t think the email would be an issue with these users.
I do have a few users I invited years ago via email that worked just perfectly, but that was 3-4 years ago, they still have access and use the plex.
One of them got divorced and tried to make a new plex account since they didnt’ wanna share email anymore with their ex lol, but we can’t get their invitation accepted.
It doesn’t matter if you use username or email for the invite. The issue is what Plex account are they accepting the invite with. If your friend has more than 1 Plex account, it can only be accepted by the same Plex account that was invited. The link is not universal.
I don’t think this was the problem in my specific case. The email accept link continued to not work. However, I had them navigate to plex.tv directly and accept the invite from their notification icon at the top, it worked just fine and now they can see the server. They didn’t sign out in between getting the Hmm, an invite error, and going to plex.tv, so they were on the same account the entire time. Also if the accounts had been different, I don’t believe they would have seen the invite link after going to app.plex.tv. I don’t know if this helps at all, but its what worked for us, so hopefully anyone else having this issue can try this method to see if it works for them too.
Mind PM’ing me your friend’s username so I can check what might have happened?
I’m still getting this. I’ve invited the user 3 times now (canceling the existing invite in between each). The user already has an account. Whenever they click the link, they see an error message. No idea how to actually invite them.
Please PM me the email address you are trying to invite. Checking your account, I see you did send invites recently to someone, but that person deleted their account so invites won’t work.
Same problem here - im a plex plus, my friend just a regular account sent me an invite to his server same problem. tried twice both times same thing.
tried pc, mobile samething
whats the fix? this is a bug im guessing?
I found the invite. Your friend forgot to include the periods in your email address. That’s why the invite doesn’t work. It doesn’t match your actual email.
Edit: Turns out it was a PEBKAC issue with the user and not Plex.tv having a bug.
He was using his iCloud email but that is just a link for his GMail, so he had to sign-out of both in browser, then I deleted & re-sent invite to him. He logged in with the iCloud email rather than iCloud via Gmail (think he tried to OAuth in using “Login with Gmail”) and it worked!
