Home page not updating when adding collection via "Manage Recommendations"

Server Version#:1.24.1.4931-7000
Player Version#:web client 4.59.2

I’ve set a smart collection (Unplayed Movies) to visible on Home. I’ve then gone into Settings → Libraries → Movies and ticked Home.

However, it never shows in the pinned Movies on Home screen - the only thing that ever shows is whatever is at the top of the list in Settings → Libraries → Movies (so, in my case, “Recently added in movies”)

The Manage Recommendations page says changes may not be immediately visible, but I’ve refreshed browser, signed out, etc - no change.

I think you must be misunderstanding. I’m trying to pin a smart collection into the pinned Movies section of my home page. As this link says - Manage Recommendations | Plex Support

Quote:

There are three columns, which control whether or not the row in question will be available in the three different situations:

  • Library Recommended : This is the Recommended tab/pivot when viewing a particular media library.
  • Home : This is the home screen of a player app, when the library in question has been pinned to the sidebar. It applies to the server owner (or when not signed in, for unauthenticated servers).
  • Shared Users’ Home : This is the home screen of a player app, when the library in question has been pinned to the sidebar. This applies to all shared users, including managed users.

Each of the pinned library’s rows will be grouped together on the home screen, based on the order they are pinned. If you have your movie library pinned above your TV library, then all the movie rows will be above the TV rows.

So, why is there an option inside Movies → Collections to right-click on a collection and select Visible → Home?

And why does the article I linked to say:

Setting a Collection to be Visible as a Row

Tip! : The ability to set a collection to appear on the home screen or library Recommended screen is a premium feature and requires an active Plex Pass subscription.

Requirements

  • Plex Media Server v1.22.3 or newer
  • Plex Web v4.56.3 or newer
  • The admin account for the Plex Media Server needs an active Plex Pass subscription

If you’ve created a collection, you can optionally choose to make that collection visible as a row on the home screen or library Recommended screen. This effectively lets you create some powerful “custom” rows. For instance, you could create a smart collection based on filtering/sorting a library and then have that appear as a row on the home screen.

Hi, thanks for this. Yes, that’s what I was referring to. I’ve followed the steps, but it still doesn’t appear on my home screen though. Most odd.

Hi. Triple checked everything and it’s still not working. Interestingly, if I move the smart collection to the top of the ones that are selected for Home, it appears, but then the “Recently added movies” one doesn’t. It’s as if I can only have one row per library type on my home screen.

Thanks for the assistance. I’ve worked out what it is - I had two rows set to show for Movies - one was “Recently added” and the other was “Unwatched”.

As I’ve only recently started adding my movies and haven\t watched any yet, “Recently added” and “Unwatched” contained the same content - the 5 movies I’ve added. For some reason, this meant that Plex would only show one row. As soon as I marked one of the movies as watched, both rows appeared.
