I am new to Plex Server. I want to primarily use it to server my family videos to friends and family. Is it possible to add photos and names of my family members to be Cast & Crew? In the Edit section, I do not have the ability to edit Cast & Crew
It’s possible to add them as „Cast“ in the files‘ embedded metadata. You can use Subler for this purpose on macOS and add the names as a comma separated list (e.g. „Mom, Dave, Anna“).
Keep in mind that Plex will currently only read embedded metadata from mp4/m4v/mov files at this point. They mentioned there are plans to add support for separate local metadata files (nfo), but there’s no ETA.
Behavior across Plex clients will be varying. From what I’ve seen, most won’t display the names on the video details pages.
Plex Web isn’t listing them while the iOS app does.
But in my case I’m able to filter the list by those actors in all apps (e.g. creating a smart playlist/collection for individuals or groups of persons).

No, Plex doesn’t support that.
You’ll just get the circle with their initials.
