A couple of weeks ago, after a total refresh of my movies folder, I can see all my movies have the option to “Play trailer” and also show the original Picture Soundtrack when available) in Plex Web Player.
I do not want to play trailers/music and I have verified that under Web Player Settings // Extras, all Cinema Trailers options are disabled.
I have tried enabling the Cinema Trailers options temporarily, then disabled them again but that did not help. I have tried refreshing a movie after enabling/disbling, but the trailer icon is still there.
I think this happened when I was playing around with the New Plex Movie Agent. I have now reverted to the Old Plex Movie Agent but can’t get rid of trailers/music.
Why is Plex so hard to understand sometimes…
Any suggestions?
One of the recent beta versions has fixed an issue about disabling automatic extras/trailers being ignored by the Plex Media Server.
Plex Media Server 1.20.4.3508-6abbd541f is now available in the beta update channel
FIXES:
- (Library) Disabling automatic extras for Plex Movie libraries had no effect (#12033)
PMS Version?
There was a bug in the new movie agent where you could not disable Plex finding trailers and extras.
It is fixed in 1.20.4.x.
Deselect “Find Extras” in the new agent settings, then refresh metadata for the library.
I actually uppgraded PMS to Beta 1.20.4.3517 before reporting this incident without being aware this was a known issue.
But I have refreshed some movies and I still see the trailer option.
How can I get rid of these trailers with PMS 1.20.3517?
Please check the advanced settings of that particular library:
Do you currently have Find extras
checked?
To rule out there’s a disconnect…
Can you check this option, save the settings, wait a moment, then uncheck it and save the settings for good (just in case there’s currently a disconnect between the actual setting and how it’s displaying in your server).
With this disabled, the only trailers showing on your movies should be locally added trailers.
As a side note… changing this setting might not automatically apply to already matched items. Library settings for the agent behavior usually apply when you match a new movie.
I have selected the “Find Trailers and extras (Requires Plex Pass)” option and saved the settings.
Waited for a couple of minutes and have unselected the Trailer option.
I have refreshed a couple of movies that had trailers, they are still there.
I have “fix match” a couple of movies that had trailers, they are still visible.
I also see that if I “unmatch” a movie, the information is gone but the trailer is still there. This trailer info seems really hard to “kill”
Ps: I do not have any local trailers in my folders.
Settings - Server - Agents - Movies - Plex Movie (Legacy)
Edit the properties of the “Plex Movie (Legacy)” agent by clicking on the small “cog wheel” icon. (It may take a second or two until the dialog opens)
Make sure check boxes 2, 4, and 5 are disabled.
Now that you have updated to 1.20.4, set both Agent and Scanner back to “Plex Movie”.
Wait a few seconds.
Refresh Metadata of a few movies.
Thanks for all help but unfortunately that did not help either.
Even if I unmatch a movie, the trailer is still there…
I finally wiped the entire folder “Movies” from Plex then re-created it. Unfortunately I did not think that all the information about watched/unwatched has been wiped as well… This really annoys me, why did I not think of that…
Well at least I got rid of these damn trailers… But surely there must be a better way…
