I would like the option to have trailers of the movies IN my library display within the selected movie. This would be useful if you are not sure what the move is about. What do others think?

Indeed. The first thing I thought when searching for the word ‘trailer’ and finding this question was, if the site Plex uses for trailers HAS a trailer for the movie, the option already exists to view it in the context menus. This is on web, Roku, and Android that I know/use mostly.

Again though, 2 dependencies for extras - client you’re using, and whether or not the site Plex uses has it.

Apparently there is something wrong then as I don’t see any “Extras” and the settings for trailers are enabled. I do get cinema trailers before a movie but no Extras and I checked a number of different movies in my library. Using media server v1.0 on a Drobo NAS and Apple TV.

First, check the presence of trailers within Plex Web.

  1. your library’s primary metadata agent must have Freebase active under Settings - Server - Agents - Movies - Freebase/OpenMovieDB (Freebase doesn’t need to be on the topmost position though). If you are using a different metadata agent than Freebase or TheMoviedatabase (e.g. a 3rd party agent like the XBMC.nfo agent), you won’t get any automatic extras.
  2. make the settings as described in this help article
  3. test the settings by refreshing one well-known movie in your library. Leave the preplay screen of that movie and wait at least 3 minutes before returning.
  4. if 3) went well, you can try to refresh the whole library

Thanks for the replies. Now I can’t even get to my server settings menu. “Server settings are unavailable.” even after reboot. sigh… Is there not a ticket support system for paid members?

Then you should first solve this new problem. Please try to retrace what you did before the problem occured.
