How do I "label" multiple encodings of the same movie?

Hi - I’ve searched and looked through the docs but was not able to find an answer. Perhaps what I want to do is not a feature yet?

When you optimize a movie (for TV or mobile), plex gives you nice options when choosing which version to play:

But when I add two versions of a movie this is what I get:

I’ve named my files as such:
Deadpool (2016) - avc.mp4
Deadpool (2016) - hevc.mp4

It appears rather to be a case of convention over configuration, as plex stores the original and the “Optimized for TV” versions like this:
/Movies/Deadpool (2016).mp4
/Movies/Plex Versions/Optimized for TV/Deadpool (2016) (2016).mp4

  • Not sure why an extra (YEAR) is added when being optimized.

Per the guidelines found here: support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/200381043-Multi-Version-Movies

  1. I’ve named the versions correctly
  2. I don’t expect the text to show up because it says it won’t.
  3. I’m just trying to find out if there is a hidden “something” that will allow me to provide detail on my versions

Thanks!

I would love to figure this out. I have placed my versions in the plex version folder scanned didnt get the title.

Let’s hope someone can answer us, then!

Lately I have been adding other cuts of a film as a Featurette
Doing this diplays all of the “Other” versions in the same section as the Extras

To answer these original question, you can’t.
