I really like how the media optimizer will label optimized movies, such as “Original” and “Optimized for TV” when displaying the different versions of media that are present (for instance, for a movie that has 4K and 1080P optimized content). However, over time I’ve found that rather than use the Optimizer, I typically will just already have 4K and 1080P copies of movies, so I don’t really need to use the Optimizer feature. Instead, what I have started doing is dropping the movies in using a similar folder structure as what the Optimizer does, but what ends up happening is there ends up being no label then in the UI that says “Original” and “Optimized for TV.” Instead it just says “4K” and “1080p” for the movie versions, which works, but I’d rather have the label there for my users.
So my current workaround is to essentially drop in the 4K content, run the optimizer, then when it’s done, swap out the “optimized” version for my already existing optimized version so that the version labels for the movie stay. I mainly do this because I can create better file sizes than what the optimizer yields, and for HDR tone-mapped 4K conversions, I’d rather just drop in a standard 1080P copy (generally looks better imo). But essentially I currently have a ton of useless converting running just to get movie labels.
Is there a way to create a name for each version (4K, 1080P, etc.) to something similar without running the conversion, or just any specified text in general? It’d be great to be able to name Versions “IMAX” or something like that so they could be distinguished amongst a movie’s version list.
Also, having scavenged around already, I definitely don’t want to split the files and rename them. They’re versions, they shouldn’t all have separate entries.
Thank you!
