How do I remove the 'Upgrade Libraries Notification' from Plex Media Server?

Just that really. I’ve found the new ‘upgrade’ a pile of cack. I don’t want anything to do with it and stopped it once I saw what it was doing to my library. Still the ‘upgrade libraries’ notification remains and won’t go away, no matter how many times I hit no thanks. Any one know how to get rid of it?

Also I would advise against upgrading if you want to keep your library sensible.

Care to elaborate on your negative experience with the new agents?

What was it doing? Stopping the upgrade midway could have left your library in a bad state.

pretty sure the person is having the same experience I am. I don’t want to use the new agent, but if you don’t, there is a notification in the upper right (similar to a server update). i haven’t been able to figure out how to dismiss it.

If I mess with the other agents after the “upgrade”, I seem to get the notification? I get the notification on the one library that I changed agent, but it “upgrades” EVERY LIBRARY AGAIN. Truly a time waster. A tweak here and there, including hiding the notification could make this new upgrade feature really shine.

That is why I finally let it do the upgrade, was tired of the seeing the notification arrow on everything.

The agent seems to need a lot of work. No artwork on a movie I added Sunday. Checked and it was on TMDb and TVDB. Went to fix match and the movie showed up twice with slightly different descriptions and one had artwork and the other didn’t.

Went to add the new Guy Fieri show and it doesn’t even find it, even though there are entries on both TMDB and TVDB.

There doesn’t seem to be any additional agent control over the new agent. it doesn’t even show up in the “agents” settings. I personally like the extra control over the library when I use nfo data with each movie, so I have the XBMCnfoMoviesImporter agent enabled and highest priority on all the other main agents. Since I cannot do this (yet?) with the new agent I don’t want to use it or be notified I’m not using it.

In case anyone is wondering, by “extra control” I use nfo files to set the title, sorttitle, genres, and sets for every movie. I just prefer this over the defaults

This is also very important to me and very disappointing that they are intent on “doing away” with the prioritization of metadata agents. I have not been able to get a response on any way to match with NFO files.

I’ll add to the pile. Initially I upgraded and thought it was terrific. Then I noticed some incorrect matches, and other than manually correcting anything, there was no solution other than going back to the TVDB lookups…at least they have a series identifier. I would much prefer the OPTION to rank the sources of metadata. If that were possible I’d say “sure, use the upgraded libraries, but if that doesn’t work, then let me use TVDB on a per instance basis”.

The fact that it has to be used exclusively for entire libraries is annoying. Oh, and yes I also want to get rid of the bloody notification. Annoying distraction where I think there’s a server update. Why can’t we just have the option of dismissing it? I fear it won’t even be an option at some point.

Have just tried creating new libraries for music and TV with the new agents. In both cases, the new agents missed a bunch of media when scanning, even in cases where I have perfect folder sorting.

I’ve no interest in switching to these new inferior agents, and would also love to be able to permanently dismiss the annoying “upgrade your libraries” message.

I also don’t want to switch to the new agent and would like the notification arrow to go away…

Personally, if they fix all the issues with the new agent I would be fine with it.
But that’s a big IF.

Ok, yeah I would too. I just hate having all my customisations and meta tag changes all wiped out…

I’ll chime in. I have lots of Audio Books, Modern Scholar lectures and stuff. All of these are audio and unlike the Generic Video, there is no generic audio so you HAVE to use the music scanner. After you do that initially there is a huge amount of clean up to put in the proper art and metadata. I’ve already done that once and don’t want to do it again. Is there a way to upgrade the library and tell it to not change anything? Don’t ever refresh the metadata on anything that is in there now? I just want those libraries that I have spent months curating to not change.

Their metadata scrapers are crap. Anything that is bleeding edge TV (a.k.a from the same day as release.) frequently populates the metadata with TBA. Use TheTVDB and it picks it up immediately. Until this get fixed I’m not migrating so I end up being pestered with a always on notification about he upgrade your library. Stop this crap.

HOW DO I GET RID OF THE “UPGRADED” LIBRARY???

It seems to get the right matches, but movies from 1965 are listed as “2021” and I see the correct art in the match search, but no art shows up in the library.

For the love of god is. there any. way. to undue “upgrade library”???

I also would love to get rid of that arrow. Two new series in a row somehow got matched with “Challenge of the Super Friends” which was not even close (genre OR title). After switching back to TheTVDB my only issue is being repeatedly reminded to switch to the new Agent which would match all new series in a way I (or propably no one) would want.

I don’t ask plex to fix the agent overnight (though it would be nice) but let us get rid of that annoying reminder and let us enjoy the working agents.

Please let us get rid of it, lost to much metadata/things that cannot be matched correct. it’s fine that the option is there, but like upgrades - allow for it to be skipped.

I second this. I use the “legacy” agent for SubZero among other things and I feel no need to upgrade to the new one, last tme I tried it wasn’t working very well. As others have said, no problem with the option but please let us choose ourselves and remove the arrow that always turns up.

Anyone from Plex here in this thread?
I also had that “Mediatheken Upgrade” aka “library upgrade” nagging screen plus “arrow” notification on top popping up again - not seeing any way of disabling this?

I have nothing against a reminder after a couple of weeks or months… but can you please disable that permanent arrow thing from my user experience?

This is simply rude. Please do not point a weapon like this directly to my face.

Thank you very much.
