I’ve had a server set up on my pc’s for years. Currently, I only have one pc running but am trying to get another server to stay available and running on Nvidia. A few hours ago, I went to Plex in the Chrome browser, saw I was signed into my account, but the screen umped from my info/content, etc to this:
It appears PLEX wants me to set up a server. After waiting several minutes for the spinning circle to do whatever, the screen showed
.
I rebooted pc. Same. Tried another browser. Same. I uninstalled/re-installed PMS. (I did not delete/rename any data files as I would need to know which specific files to alter and, the problem occurred before I re-installed.) No change. I checked the data location and everything seems to be where it belongs. I can watch content from other client apps (Fire, Nvidia) but can’t get access to the server online.
I had updated the server via a client app just before running into this issue.
If you know the problem/solution, I’d appreciate help. TIA
EDIT: After trying older version which didn’t work, I exported/deleted registry key. After that, the PMS installed properly. I can now see my pc server as well as Shield. I have some backups of the AppData Local files for PMS. Are there specific folders I need to replace to get my database back?
I’ll continue to research this. Any help is appreciated.
EDIT2: After closing the PMS to try to replace data folder (which I couldn’t do because “file was opened”–where, I couldn’t see), I turned PMS back on and I’m back to to original shots above.
EDIT3: Uninstalled, deleted registry key; re-installed PMS. Plex let me set up the server. I added a library (did not touch the LocalData files). It seemed to be fixed." Both this server and nvidia servers show on left panel. Hours later, I go back to focus on the Shield. “Server Not Available” when I try to access Shield settings. (I’ve seen this message at least 20 times since trying to use Shield for less than a week. IIRCC, factory rest has been the only solution.)
I didn’t stop the PMS on Windows 10 but did close the browser Plex app. When I re-opened that app, I’m back to the original issue: A problem has been detected with a core component of Plex Media Server.
