I’m looking for a solution to disable autoplay on my Plex server, but for all users. Many users fall asleep in front of their television, leading to unnecessary bandwidth and transcoding usage.
I’ve gone through the Plex server settings, but I couldn’t find an option to disable autoplay for all users at once.
Could someone please assist me by providing instructions on how to disable this feature for all users on my Plex server and thus limit unnecessary bandwidth and transcoding usage?
You cannot set/disable autoplay preferences for other users… even if they’re streaming from your server.
You’ll depend on asking those users who keep falling asleep while autoplaying content to enable passout protection (assuming they have a Plex Pass… which they should have if they disabled the previous 2-hour autoplay limit). If they keep doing it you could still kick them from your server.
No, they don’t have a PLEX PASS and yet their computer remains on and PLEX plays by itself for 12 to 24 hours. They are elderly people. I’ll check with them what could be done. I still find it surprising that this option isn’t provided on the server. I don’t have a very powerful server. This could cause issues for other users. This server protection should be a default option.
