Player Version#: Web Version 4.145.1
After some library upgrades I only have the Plex Series as an agent for the library where I’m trying to match a TV show and with the previous agents it just worked if I entered “tvdb-XXXXXX” as the title, where XXXXXX is the tvdb ID for the show. Now however if I enter tvdb-XXXXXX in the title field and click search it immediately comes back with “No matches found”.
Do I need to add/switch to a different agent for this library or is it supposed to work with Plex Series agent?
I wasn’t sure when the show first aired, so I omitted/dropped the Year parameter.
Double-checking with a bad year, it’ll still find the show.
If the lookup fails, it might be worth to check if your server is generally capable to reach Plex’s backend. Could be a firewall rule or security tools/plug-ins blocking certain communication, or a bad DNS failing to resolve the host plex.tv
Thanks for a very prompt reply. It does match other shows automatically, so there’s an internet access for sure.
What are the Scanner/Agent settings for the library where it works?

It should work with what you said you’re using - the Plex TV Series scanner and Plex Series agent.
If it’s a show that was added to TVDB very recently (in the last couple of days), Plex’s metadata cache might not have pulled in the new show. Also, have you checked whether it happens with all TVDB IDs, or just this one (e.g. does searching for tvdb-73244 bring up “The Office”, or does that also return no results)? Less likely, but also double check that the TVDB ID is categorized as a show, not a movie. Outside of that, you’d probably have to say what the specific ID is so someone can investigate further.
