Is there a way to force the DVR and live TV recording to go to a specific folder (or library)? I have a couple of TV libraries that are read only and one created on a drive specifically for DVR. I don’t want my users to choose where the recording goes. It also looks like the live TV goes by default in the first library listed (even if another is chosen in the player)

For TV shows you can indicate which TV show Library you want recordings to go into you. For movies you can similarly select which movie Library the recording goes into.
If you want them to go into a new library, create a folder on your file system, create a new library and select that folder while in Plex, and then set your recording’s to go into those library.
So there is a setting on the server to force all TV shows/Movies/live TV recording to go to a specific library? can you please let me know how to update it

It’s a setting when you set up the recording. Assuming you already have a library created. Here, I have the choice between TV Shows and Family TV, both of these are TV libraries.

Users can’t set recordings, only the admin can. If you are letting a user use your admin account, then they need to know how your server is set up.
I did not know that - I am still testing the DVR - thank you. So if family members want to record TV, they must be on my admin account. That’s pretty limiting.
Semi intentional. As you said, they won’t know your server’s abilities. What if someone accidentally scheduled recording everything, then your library will be full of stuff you don’t want and be busy 24 hours/day. Or they schedule something that conflicts with something you’ve got. Either you would miss your recording, or their recording would get cut short. Just lots of questions and potential issues with that. Not saying we won’t add this in the future, but for now, it is limited only to the admin to avoid confusion.
You lost me there. That’s the same as when we share the cable DVR. They can overload it or remove my recordings. The solution is not to prevent them from using it. At worst, give the admin the choice instead of making it for us.
On a DVR set-top box, you don’t have users. Anybody can do anything with it. Plex is a little more complicated having users. It has been requested that the admin should be able to allow certain users the ability to set up recordings. I don’t know where that stands but Plex is aware of it. I don’t have any information if/when that may be possible.
Hopefully they add it soon. I really want to pay for the lifetime pass (I’m on monthly to test it out) but this issue is a big deal. I do not want to open my admin account to the children in the house.
