How to get rid of some details in properties

I have a problem where I have some videos that have some details I don’t want on the movie anymore. I removed the videos from Plex. I then emptied the trash. I went and fixed the details and brought the videos back into Plex. The same details are still there. I’m missing something. What is it? Thanks.

What kind of „details“ are you referring here?

The title was labeled incorrectly when I did it. When you go into the clip, go to properties, I go to details, and then go to title. So, I went and took away the title and changed it but it keeps on remaining the same as when I first put it in.

I can’t get Plex to change the title even though I changed it at the source. I had this happen a long time ago and had to fix this same thing, but I can’t find the cache or some other name that I have to select after I hit empty trash.

Clean bundles. It is in the servers menu or you can go to server settings under trouble shooting. Do it before adding the file back.

I did this once, but it didn’t go away. I’ll try it again. I had to find it in troubleshooting. I could not find it any other place. I couldn’t remember where to look. I just stumbled upon it in troubleshooting.

This is what you want to follow. The Plex Dance ™

http cache clearing instructions here. Clearing Plugin/Channel/Agent HTTP Caches | Plex Support since this is embedded metadata you want to clear the localmedia one.

I don’t have anything that says manage server. I have it on my NAS which is my server, but I don’t have the same tree that I see on the Plex Dance. I’ll keep trying.
Update: I found the clear bundles. Duh.

So, do you think it will be okay to just delete all of the cache?

The Dance didn’t do it. I can’t find any place else that it could be hidden?? I’ll keep trying.

I did all of the Plex dance and then cleared the cache and that took care of all but one of the seasons. I will look at it again and see but there is nothing in the title or anything like that. I will just fix it by hand I guess.

Maybe it is actually embedded meta tags in your files?

Go to

  • Settings - Server - Agents - Shows - TheTVDB

In there, grab the line ‘Local Media Assets’ with your mouse and drag it downwards, so it ends up being at the bottom of the stack of active agents.
Repeat the same under

  • Settings - Server - Agents - Shows - TheMovieDatabase
  • Settings - Server - Agents - Movies - Plex Movie (Legacy)
  • Settings - Server - Agents - Movies - TheMovieDatabase

Afterwards, Refresh Metadata of the affected items.

If your movie library already uses the new “Plex Movie” agent, do this instead:
Edit your movie library
go to the ‘Advanced’ tab
clear the check mark out of “Prefer local metadata”

Afterwards, Refresh Metadata of the affected items.
