How to record currently airing program on Nvidia Shield?

Server Version#: 1.18.3.2156
Player Version#: 7.23.0.14578

I’ve come back to try Plex after leaving it about a year ago. There are a lot of great improvements but I have found some strange issues still.

On the Nvidia Shield selecting a program that is currently airing from the Guide goes straight to the “Tuning Channel” message then opens the channel in the player, but there is no record button. I have the setting “Allow partial airings” turned on, but there seems no way to record a program manually on the Shield that has already commenced? Same seems to apply for the Android mobile app?

My other issue is how to exit the PIP mode but i see someone else has just posted about that.

I think the other thing that is desperately lacking is the support for keyboard input so that Harmony remotes could be programmed to go direct to the Guide etc.

I have the same question and this issue is driving me bonkers. The function is available on Roku and iOS streaming apps!

Was just about to ask about this? Surely I’m missing something and there has to be some way to record the remainder of a currently airing program

If “Allow Partial Recordings (Airings)” is enabled, you should be able to start recording anything in progress.

Unless something is wrong with that ‘feature’ on Shield.

As per my original post that option is already enabled. Months later now and the issue is still not fixed. It just shows you how few people are actually using Plex for free-to-air and why Plex is doomed - they are scratching around for new features to sustain pass subscriptions but lose as many people by not fixing the most basic features.

Going straight into the program from the guide is intentional, and as for a recording button in the player, stay tuned
