Last night we sat down to watch a movie and my wife also wanted to record it for watching again later. I scheduled the recording about 15 minutes before it started. Then we sat down to watch it (live via tuner, not the recording) and we just got an error saying Plex couldn’t tune that channel. I could tune every other channel except for the one being recorded.
This is odd, because it’s an HDHomerun with 3 tuners. If I am recording on a channel, I should be able to also watch that channel with the next tuner in the line. Same as if two people wanted to watch the same channel in two different places in the house. Am I wrong?
I didn’t try to tune the channel anywhere else, so my experience is isolated to my Shield.
I assume you mean betas for the Shield app and not for Plex, right? I’m not even sure if I have a beta build installed. I haven’t installed them intentionally, if so.
Well, that sucks. I had noticed recently that the profile images wouldn’t load when the app first opened, but later on they worked. I guess those versions are auto-updating on me. Fixed the profile pics, but broke the Live TV stuff. Sheesh.
Now looking at alternative DVR to Plex for watching while Plex is recording. Unfortunately, they cost money in addition to what I’ve already paid for Plex. Ugh
Version 10.4 was not a beta and broke the feature to watch a program from the beginning. This should have been tested better before releasing to the public.
I’m also having trouble watching a Live TV program while it is recording. I know this has been reported many times before but anyway:
It only happens on my Nvidia Shield. When I select the program being recorded from the guide I get an error saying the tuner is in use. Also, only “recording” is shown and not the “play from the start” option which I see on PCs and Rokus. I don’t see the file being recorded to in the DVR section (normal?).
FWIW I’m using a HDHomerun 4k for the ota signal and Plex is running on a Windows PC.
I currently have Transcode on, but MPEG TS files are being created.
