I am almost done with Plex and remote access

Server Version#: 4.34.4
Player Version#:

I have set up port forwarding. I have made sure there is no blockages on my firewall or ad blocking software. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Plex and gone to the extreme and done a system wide reset and yet I am still not able to get it to stay connected to remote access.

Some people I share with are at times unable to connect to my server. i have a friend with an LG TV and a PS4 who are not able connect at all as it states no media is shared,

I have just about had enough and about to walk away from Plex altogether.

Can someone please help me and tell me what I am doing wrongPlex Log - 01.08.2020.txt (82.1 KB)

Have you tested with your firewall disabled? Just to verify if this is firewall related? Disable firewall service, reboot then test.

Save yourself the headache and just switch to Emby.

@ChuckPa A official complaint has been filed against you with corporate. For future reference, just in case you happen to get a mod position on another forum, I would hold back on abusing your mod powers.

You have a lot of maturing to do before you are ready to be a mod on a forum of this size and scope.

That’s just funny, you definitely have not got a clue. There are many thousands successful remote users on windows using Plex. I share with a fellow forum member, using a VPN, 10,000 miles away. I live down under and if I can work it out, people standing on there head in the northern hemisphere should be able to ask their dog to help. Dogs are smart individuals, ask my kangaroos. :face_with_hand_over_mouth: :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

By the way who exposes there public email on a forum. Someone like this.

Why should you have to work it out when you can simply use another app that is superior and without bugs?

As for my email or identity, I don’t feel the need to hide behind a wall of anonymity like a coward.

I see your clever enough to apply security certificates but not be able to read a support article.

Do yourself a favor, stop trolling this forum, It so obvious…

Why should I have spend my hard earned free time simply because Plex can’t get it’s ■■■■ together when there are other apps out there now that do the same thing, only better, without bugs and more efficiently?

Ok, you now being sensible, were will your intelligence stop.

Obviously you have a problem grasping simplistic conversation.

No offense, but when I pay for a piece of software, I expect it to work as advertised without me having to spend my time off from work troubleshooting buggy programming.

Plex is a deprecated piece of software compared to what is available now.

A paid user, no Pass Subscription, Plex is free

HUH? I am a lifetime paid plex pass member. Guess again.

I am also now a lifetime Emby sub and once you switch, you will see just how much Plex is severely deficient.

To illustrate things on a basic level for you. You know the main street wherever you are from? A pothole pops up so they patch it and they continue to patch all the potholes until the main street is nothing but a bunch of patches covering the potholes and completely falling apart.

That is Plex

Enjoy Emby.

I am very much so. It is very nice to have something that just works…

Good Luck with the Green monster, it’s was a disaster on trialing. But if your happy feeding a hungry mess, good luck. Your only beating a drum here, that heats a cannibal’s dinner bowl of untruths. There’s nothing like a heated dinner. Lol

I am legit sorry for posting asking for help.

I mean if this is how it is going to be for plex forums when actually asking for help then maybe I have to move on.

It’s not normally like this.

Are you judging not having access by the red cross or green tick in settings? I ask because this can sometimes say “no access”: when it is actually working.

Thanks for the reply.

I does have the red cross saying not accessible outside my network which is not the case most of the time.

I have some people that have complained they have not been able to connect and it says no media is shared but it is.

Have you recently updated Plex server? I have found that remote access can sometimes be sketchy for up to a day after an update.

[edit: it used to be like this - I haven’t checked recently so it may no longer be the case]

Ok, how do you have your network set up. Is there a active VPN?

I uninstalled and redownloaded today but other than than it says always that it is up to date
