I believe I have a Double NAT situation

Server Version#: 1.15.3.876
Player Version#: 3.83.1

Hi, I changed my ISP provider and I’m having a problem with how to activate remote access, before it was automatic, I had to change anything but with this new ISP and modem I’m having trouble.

I kinda understand what’s going on with the settings but I’m not an expert. as the picture shows I believe I have a double NAT situation, I checked in my router my WAN IPv4 (10.x.x.x) and is different for the one it appears in WhatismyIP and in the Plex console.

This is how I have the forwarding in my router (Ubee UBC3010)

  • I don’t have a modem and a router, is the one from my ISP, a modem/router.
  • I’m connected by ethernet btw.
  • I can access locally without problems.
  • I change 32400 for 40000 just to try other options.

This is what really concerns me, it’s fine but aftet a few seconds stops working. Happens every time I click “Enable remote access”.

What could I’ve been doing wrong?

Thanks.

If your router is showing you an IP address of 10.x.x.x as its public address, then you are in a carrier-grade-NAT situation.
Which is the worst of the kind because you can’t resolve it without active help from your ISP.

Ask your ISP for a publicly accessible IPv4 address. Some ISPs will provide you one, some want more money for it and some won’t do it at all.

Thank you Otto Kerner, I’m gonna ask my ISP about it.

You probably need to just turn on bridge mode on your modem. If it’s a combo modem/wireless router that you got from the ISP, plus your additional personal wireless router, that will cause the double NAT. Turning on bridge mode on the ISP provided gateway will be the solution.

I wish I could but I only use the combo router (modem/router), I don’t use a second router.

It is maybe the same Problem which I had. I didn’t got an IPv4, but I solved it by using a VPN with Portforwarding. I wrote an Tutorial in german too which could help you.
