I cannot access my server with a browser but i can with the Plex app

Yup! I just checked mine too and it seems to be working now.

I’m guessing it was something on their end that was messing with us.

Maybe @BigWheel knows.

I’m thinking that the browser has to access a server or something at Plex to allow it to point to the local server and that “handshake” got compromised - maybe from the Big Sur 11.3 upgrade?

There is an issue with how the the certificate was getting reported. This is an over simplification but basically the server was asking for the player to verify but the player which always try to first connect securely could not because it did not know about the certificate due to issue on our end.

We refreshed certificates for some like yourselves so things synced back up. Should not have effected most folks but looks like y’all or one of your users may have restarted server or changed a setting in app when the issue presented it self so things got out of whack for you.

I may have contributed to the problem when I was trying to set up an additional server to my set up that caused me to claim the server on another machine and then reverting back to the original machine. I don’t remember the exact sequence of steps I took but that was something I was messing around with around the time that it stopped working properly.

My problem has been the same as @douglaswang and @jstroder. I can acces my plex server on my phone, playstation, smart-tv app on my home network and roaming. But I cant access my server via browsers. I read in your reply that it has something to do with certificates? How do I solve this?

seeing a similar issue but not sure if related…

  1. Accessing https://app.plex.tv opens via web browser loads accounts etc but server fails to load on (both 4G/LAN)
  2. Accessing http://MY_EXTERNAL_IP:32400/web loads server succesfully on 4G/LAN.

Only changes recently - reset my SHIELD and setup everything again (thanks SQL Lite POS)
The Apps work as expected (both 4G/LAN).

Could it be SSL/masking issue at Plex end?
Would appreciate any advice to resolve this.

I don’t mind sharing my server logs, but it seems the problem has been solved. I don’t know what happened, but I can now access my server, anywhere and in browsers! Thanks for the help anyway!
