Plex Server Version#: 1.21.1.3830
DSM Version: DSM 6.2.3-25426 Update 3
Hey All
My PMS is functioning without issues, all media plays fine however when trying to see the physical files under /homes/plex, the folder is empty.
I have ensured that both the Plex and my account have read/write access to the Plex share but still no luck. I am sure I am doing something wrong, can someone please help?
Thanks, this makes sense, but if I cannot see my media in File Station how can I move them to the newly created Media folder? Maybe I’m missing something
My nas username is already Admin through the Administrators group. I can see the permissions given are Read/Write. Could it be that this permission has not be inherited down?
ok however to be clear my Plex Media folder is not shared because it lives under /Homes. So should I reset permissions through File Station where I can pull up the properties of /Homes/Plex?
Or
Should I disable Home folders per your post above first?
Sorry for the confusion I don’t think we are on the same page, please allow me to explain better
My Media is stored under /homes/plex
a). /Homes is shared at the top level
b). Plex user has Read/Write at the share level and full control at the directory level
my nas login is a member of the administrators group
a). Due to point 2, my nas login has read/write at the share level and full control at the directory level (/homes/plex)
The issue: I want my nas login to see the files that sit inside /homes/plex so I can move them per your instructions above.
Per your instructions, manipulating permissions for the Plex user does not make any difference because I am logged in as my nas user (administrator)
Ensuring my nas user (administrator) permissions is applied to /homes/Plex and all its sub-folders also does not give me access to see the files despite logging out and back in.
Indeed I have sir and can confirm that Plex itself is pointing to /Homes/Plex. Anyways, I found the issue silly me - there simply is no data in /homes/plex. In fact my whole library is gone - lucky I have a backup.
/Plex itself is untouched as I know its sensitive and should not be messed with
