Plex doesn't find my directories

Server Version#: 1.24.3.5033

I have just installed re-installed Plex on my Synology NAS and I have all my movies on “/volume2/Media/Movies” but when I’m trying to add folders I can only see “/volume2/Media/” and none of the sub-folders, I have more sub-folders in the “Media”-folder. Therefor I can’t find any movies. How can I fix this?

I had no problems before

With DSM 7, the username changed as did several other important facets. (required changes to make Plex work).

You must give System Internal User ‘PlexMediaServer’ permission to read your media. (just like with ‘Plex’ but now with ‘PlexMediaServer’)

  1. Control Panel - Shared Folders - EDIT the share containing the media
  2. Permissions tab
  3. Change “Local Users” (upper left) → “System Internal User”
  4. Check the appropriate box for “PlexMediaServer”
  5. Save the changes.

This is for the Plex share and grants full control, which you don’t need for media, but will give you an idea what to look for.
