Plex can't see media folders when I try to add library

Hello all,
I recently updated my NAS hard drive and as such have installed the plex media server on the new hard drive. I’ve created the Movies and TV shows folders in the plex media folder; however when I try to add those libraries to plex they do not appear when adding a new library.,

I have checked permissions and checked the server is running. I thought that since i can see the plex media folder I would try moving a move to this location. However I tried adding the “Plex Media” folder as a library and still nothing happened. When I ask Plex to scan, it does so in a split second, like it hasn’t even thought about it.

If anyone can help I’d be most appreciative because I’m stumped.

On what version of Syno‘s DSM are you running your server?

The version is 7.1.1-42962. I have checked online and this is the latest version for the DS213j NAS I have.

Can you confirm the PlexMediaServer (system) user has access to your media files?

Make sure you don’t store any media in the server data directory. This will only mess things up.

Right, I managed to do it. I was going into the folders and trying to change permissions in the properties window. This was incorrect. I have to go to the Shared Folders application and share them from there.

I would try this. With a local network connection to your PMS, bring up the Settings page in a browser. Go to Manage → Libraries. Highlight “TV Shows” and click on Edit Library on the far right side. Click on “Add Folders”. Does the folder listed match the folder location on the PMS? If not, change it the the correct folder and Save Changes.
