NAS does not recognize Plex Media Server

Server Version# ds 416play
Player Version#:1.21.3.4021-5a0a

When I open Plex Media Server and click Your Media I am told to download Plex Media Server, which is open and giving me the message… It seems PMS is not seeing/finding my media files. This happened suddenly - worked on evening fine and not the next.’

I uninstalled and reinstalled PMS and rebooted nas…

Suggestions please,
Ron

Ron,
Synology has the reputation of forgetting that user Plex has permission to read the media (Control Panel - Shared Folders - Permissions tab).

If it was working ok and then suddenly “forgot”, I would recheck those permissions first.

I’ve done that several times. From another thread I removed permissions, saved, and then added r/w permission and saved.

,

Thanks,
Ron

You’re showing me that you’re editing the permissions for the Plex shared folder.

I’m referring to where your media is.

If you’ve placed your media in the Plex share (contrary to all my warnings no to), would you consider moving he media out of there? Media in the Plex share –

  1. causes tons of problems, this included
  2. will change completely in DSM 7

Also please follow Trumpy’s instructions about individual resetting of file permissions for the media

I have moved media from plex shared folder to Movies and TVShows respectively, given Plex r/w permissions. Have downloaded and manual installed pms.
When clicking run get “failed to run package service” message.

The nas is indexing like crazy and I can not stop or pause it. I suspect the lack or resources is why pms won’t run. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Ron Mayhew

Should have mentioned that I deleted the plex shared folder after I moved the media wanting a new, clean install. Plex, of course, created a new shared folder and I have checked r/w permissions for the two media folders.

Again, thanks,

Ron Mayhew
