Can't find my folder in PMS when browsing for it to add in library

Server Version#: 1.28.0.5999-7000
Player Version#:

Hi
My PMS is running on a Synology DS1817+, DSM 7

I have several shared folders: NAS, Media, PlexMediaServer
NAS shared folder contains my private data and projects
Media shared folder contains my movies, docus en series
PlexMediaServer is the shared folder created by the PMS.

As mentioned in the root of PlexMediaServer: Please do not place any media files here.
Which I did, I created a new shared folder named Media.
In there I created several folders: Movies, Docu, Series
Each folder has a few Subfolders, which contains the media files.

Here comes my problem.
I added the Library ‘Movies’
When I want to add movies to the library, I need to select the folders containing the movies.
I clicked on ‘add folders’ and ‘browse for media folder’
I selected Volume1, where my shared folders are located.
I selected the shared folder ‘Media’, and … it is empty.
I can’t see any folder created containing my media files
Even when I type the folder in the above field: /Volume1/Media/Movies/1080p
It doesn’t find any movie.

Some help would be welcome
What am I doing wrong or how can it be solved

Thanks in advance

Make sure the system internal user PlexMediaServer has read (or read/write) access to your media folders.

See these two entries in the Synology FAQ:

Be sure to check the box for Apply to this folder, sub-folders, and files.

Wowww, in just 1 min it is solved
Many thanks for the help.

I’m using plex since a long time now, but it is the first time I have to do this.
I did buy a new NAS last year, but didn’t have to do this either.

What changed that plex needs this now.

Synology made a lot of changes between DSM 6 and DSM 7.

It forced some changes in the way Plex is installed and managed, both from an end-user perspective and what Plex can (and cannot) do during installation.

The changes can catch people off guard. You have to look in different places than before to do things such as set file permissions. Once you know where to look it is easy. But if you don’t know where to look it can be frustrating.
