I recently installed DSM 7, the Plex run well, but when I want install a plugin, (.bundle), I can’t do it. The Plex Folder now is empty, I can’t see the system folders. Please Help.
System folders are now in a folder on the same Volume called ‘@plex’ and are accessible via SSH with sudo commands.
Folks,
That is about to change.
I’ve found a way to move back to the “Plex” shared folder
OK, I enter via SSH (I use WinSCP), I found the folder in @appstore PlexMediaServer, but I can’t edit, show me “Permission Denied”, How I can enable the Permission?
As promised, the updated packaging is now available in Forum Preview.
Please read thoroughly before installing.
ChuckPa,
I used your excellent instructions and code to upgrade my Plex installation when I went from DSM 6 to DSM 7 and I just used your newest upgrade to successfully move my Plex installation into “viewable” space - It worked flawlessly both times and thank you very much. My question is around a plugin which I love and which I have been unable to configure since the upgrade to DSM7 - The Plex Audiobook Guide from SeaNap (GitHub - seanap/Plex-Audiobook-Guide: A walkthrough for optimal Audiobook experience using Plex ) which includes an audiobook plugin call Audiobooks.bundle .
Thanks to your newest release I can now easily copy that plugin into the plugins directory but my suspicion is that the permissions aren’t correct. I have tried my local administrator account among others, but my DSM 7 doesn’t allow me to assign permissions for PlexMediaServer, which is the account that the other Plex code appears to use. I realize that Plugins are going away but even if I got a couple of more months out of this plugin I would be greatly appreciative.
Have you come across this or have any ideas that I could try? Thanks again for all you do!
To add to Trumpy,
we were chatting about how to make User-installed plug-ins work
This is the only way possible from the GUI.
Thanks so much for your assistance… I have used your suggestion to successfully ensure that permissions are correct, restarted Plex and even rebooted the Synology but still no success.

As I scroll through the various settings I wonder if perhaps my Plex is confused about the state of plugins - here are the steps I followed to get here and what I see:
-
when I originally set Plex up, I used the WebTools plugin to install the audiobooks plugin
-
during the upgrade to 7, I received a message that the plugins would be removed and let the upgrade take care of that
-
now when I look at the Plugins directory, it shows no plugins
-
now when I go to the audiobooks library, it is still configured the way I set it up when there was an audiobooks plugin

Thanks again so much for any advice you can offer as I have exhausted my (admittedly limited) resources!
Hey, I was wondering if you ever figured this out? I also know that plugins are going away something that I am very disappointed in hearing since I never really got to enjoy them. But I would like to play around with them. It doesn’t seem to matter what .bundle file I drop into the plugins-folder it doesn’t show up in my settings>Plugins
Has anyone been able to get any plugins to work yet? I am still trying to get this to do something… anything. haha
Do you know of any that do work?
I thought they were just removing their plugins or the “support” of them. I assumed third-party plugins would still work.
