I can't claim my server

I have been running Plex Media Server on my Synology for years, but somehow it went missing, and I have tried working with ChatGPT for hours to get it back online, but I cannot claim it.

I’ve tried searching for results but have not found anything that works yet.

ChatGPT instructed me to post this:

My Plex Media Server is stuck in an unclaimable state.
Claim tokens are rejected with
MyPlex: Token was invalid, resetting security.

I have:
• cleared all authorized devices,
• regenerated the server identity,
• verified network connectivity,
• and retried fresh claim tokens.

Please remove the ghost server record for my account so I can re-claim it.

Basic checklist.

  1. Confirm Package Center can search for packages from Synology
    (This confirms DNS and Gateway configuration are correct)

  2. Uninstall the package using the ‘KEEP’ (first button) option.
    (This keeps all the existing server data)

  3. Manual Install the same SPK you’ve been using – EXCEPT

  4. Install using Claim Token radio button option
    – Click “Get Plex Claim Token” hyperlink
    – New tab will open
    – COPY that link
    – Return to the installation menu and PASTE it into the box on the form
    – Click NEXT - NEXT - DONE

  5. The installer will now install the code then talk to plex.tv

  6. If the exchange goes correctly,
    – It will erase the existing credentials in Preferences.xml
    – It will write the new credentials it just received from Plex.tv

  7. It will finish up with Successful – Claimed by: YOUR_USERNAME
