I formatted my server, now both my samsung tv's wont pick up plex

Hi All,

I’m hoping someone can help me out here, i formatted my server, downloaded plex and signed in etc.

Went to open plex on my samsung tv’s and they BOTH come up with the ‘goto tv link and enter the below 4 digits’… problem is, digits are blank…goto plex,system, user login, just sits there ‘loading’ and never allows me to login??

What have i done!!

If these are older models, they are no longer able to communicate with plex.tv and thus are no longer able to link to your user account.

You will have to make sure that

  • these TVs are in the same local network segment as your server
  • both TVs have “stable” local IP addresses from your router (DHCP address reservation)
  • your Plex server is configured to not require user authentication from the 2 IP addresses of your TV devices “List of IP addresses and networks that are allowed without auth”: Network | Plex Support
  • you don’t “require” secure connections

You might also want to DISable this checkbox “Disable weak TLS versions”

If you are technically inclined, you can use this GitHub - kadrim/proxy4plex at 0.2.0
which enables even the use of the oldest Samsung client type, which was originally written by Orca.
